The Bataan Death March is a Japanese occupation forcing 60,000 to 80,000 Filipinos and Americans

prisoners to march over miles and miles to a campsite, dealing with starvation and illnesses, causing
thousands of troops to die because of the brutality of the Japanese soldiers. It lasted 5–10 days. Only a
few were able to survive this. After days of marching and marching, many were already giving up and
started to feel weak enough to move or even walk. In wartime, the Japanese used brutal methods such
as water cure, beatings, starvation, and beheadings, turning being a prisoner of war into a terrifying
experience. The sick, starving, and abused prisoners were finally marched again and put into two prison
camps—one for American prisoners and one for Filipino soldiers—across the street from each other at
what was once the Philippine army's training ground, Camp O'Donnell. It was brutal.
