Future of work

The advent of new technologies is sparking a debate in the workplace. All

three documents - one article form The Guardian, a report from World
Economic Forum Report and a web article released on
InnovationManagement.se - illustrates the changes around the labour sector in
the future due to new technologies and new uses, prompting the following
question: what the labour sector will look like in the future? First, we will see,
why and how, many old jobs will disappear, then we will see that these old jobs
will be replaced by new ones, finally we will finish by asking ourselves what will
be the expectations of the labour market of tomorrow.

First, a myriad of jobs will disappear due to automation. An estimate in

the Guardian paper highlights that 47% of U.S. jobs would be threatened by
automation. Many jobs will also disappear because of new internet platforms
that directly connect individuals. Evan Shellshear's web article directly
addresses this issue. Today, people are using platforms like Airbnb or Über,
leaving behind experts in transportation and tourist accommodation.

However, new jobs are being created in many fields. This is what the
quote from Chris Wilder in the Guardian says. The World Economic Report
even goes so far as to speak of a fourth industrial revolution, which supports
the fact that new developments are to be expected in the labour sector.
Moreover, Shellshear, to complete its thought of the service from private
person to private person, it mentions the new era of the shared economy. The
fields of application will also be different, in the future there will be much more
work in programming or in the environment.

Finally, to find a job in the future, you will need new skills. Indeed, with
the rise of new technologies and the shared economy, new jobs will be created.
For the World Economic Forum, the new skills expected will include skills that
are not yet considered crucial for work today. Overall, social skills, such as
emotional intelligence and teaching others. Also, the pace of work is expected
to be different with more widespread self-employment and flexible working
hours around strong projects.

To conclude in the future will be on the one hand automated for

everything that can be automated and on the other hand it will be more based
on a flexibility of the workers.
