8) Suppose a multinational Pharmaceutical corporation encourages result oriented culture. The new
employees of this performance based culture have become the whistleblowers. They found out the
product management and the sales team seniors were involved in unethical and illegal practices to meet
the highly competitive sales target. If you were the manager of this company, what measures will you
undertake to improve the ethical conduct of the business?
9) Suppose that you have recently been appointed to a newly created post as ‘the Head of CSR consultant’
within medium-sized engineering company. The company has a track record of community
involvement, office recycling and energy efficiency activities. However, the aim of creating your post is
to bring a much more coordinated and strategic approach to managing the company’s social,
environmental and economic impacts. How would you go about managing company’s corporate
responsibilities, what would you put in place and why? How would you advise the company to move
forward and what sort of areas should they pay attention to?
10) Business Ethics is the application of ethical and moral principles in a business environment. It deals
with what is right and what wrong while doing business. But to the contrary, several evidences show
that some business organizations are involved in different unethical practices to increase their profit at
the risk of many people's money, health and lives. As a business ethics and CSR student, you are
required to address the following questions:
A) Describe the various unethical practices adopted by business organizations in Ethiopia context. You
may find this information from newspapers, magazines, digital Medias, your own experiences and
observation.
B) Analyze each of these unethical business practices and explain how they affect the people and
society as a whole.
C) Suggest and recommend for business organizations, the ways to overcome each of these unethical
business practices.
