Pattern:
Worked using the larger hook (L/7mm).
1. Start with grey. Starting with a magic loop, Ch 2 and work 11 dc into the ring,End with a sl st in
the starting ch sts. (12)
2. Ch 2 (counts as 1 dc). Work 1 dc in the same st. Work 2 dc in each st to the end of the rnd. End
with a sl st. (24)
3. Ch 2 (counts as 1 dc). Work 2 dc in the next st. Work ”1 dc, 2 dc in the next st”. Repeat ”to” to
the end of the rnd. End with a sl st. (36)
4. Ch 2 (counts as 1 dc). Work 1 dc in the next st and 2 dc in the following st. Work ”1 dc in the

Eye – White:
-Using the larger hook. Make 2 pieces.
1. Make a magic ring. CH 2 and work 11 dc in the ring. End with a sl st in the starting ch. (12)

Eye- Black:
Using the larger hook. Make 2 pieces.
1. Make a magic ring. CH 2 and work 11 dc in the ring. End with a sl st in the starting ch. (12)

2. If you would like this piece to be larger, continue as follows: Ch 2 (counts as 1 dc). Work 1 dc in

Beak:
- Using the smaller hook and the Salmon yarn.
1. Ch 7.
2. Work 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and work sc across to the end of the row. (6)
3. Ch 1 and turn, work 1 sc in the next 4 sts and work sc2tog for the last 2 sts (5)
4. Ch 1 and turn, work 1 sc in the next 3 sts and work sc2tog for the last 2 sts (4)
5. Ch 1 and turn, work 1 sc in the next 2 sts and work sc2tog for the last 2 sts (3)
6. Ch 1 and turn, work 1 sc in the next st and work sc2tog for the last 2 sts (2)
7. Ch 1 and turn, work sc2tog for the last 2 sts (1)
8. Now work 1 rnd of sc all the way around the beak. In the 3 corners, work 3 sc in the same st, to
make the edge lay flat. End with a sl st and weave in the ends
3. Repeat rnd 8. End with a sl st and leave a long tail that will be used for attaching to the rug at
the end.
Tassels / ears:
The tassels for the ”ears” are made as follows:

Cut 6 pieces of yarn approx. 12 in long. Fold them in the middle and pull through the
corner of the rug to form a loop.

Pull the ends of the yarn from the other side
through the loop and pull to form a knot. Trim
the tassels to the desired length.

Assembly:
Using fabric glue, attach the eyes and beak. You can use the tail of the yarn to stitch to the rug as well.
Glue / sew the black pieces to the white pieces for the eyes, then attach to the owl.
Glue / sew the beak on the owl below the eyes.
