Rita and Andy are talking about their last school trip.
Andy: Look what I have here, Rita!
Rita: Oh, photos from our last school trip. What a wonderful adventure! Can we go back?
Andy: I don’t think so. Maybe in five years’ time! Boston isn’t around the corner, you know?
Rita: That’s right, but I loved going there. It was such a great city to visit. I loved going to the Mapparium, in the Mary Baker Eddy
Library. It was my favourite place to visit. We learned a lot about geography. What about you, Andy?
Andy: I preferred going to Fenway Park and watching a Boston Red Sox baseball match. It was my first time and I loved their stadium.
Rita: Did you like walking along the streets and going to Beacon Hill, too?
Andy: Yes, of course I did. Beacon Hill is such a unique place... with all those Victorian terraced houses… And it’s not far from the
traditional Tatte Bakery & Café. We ate delicious cakes there! They have the best doughnuts ever.
Rita: You’re right. Do you remember when we went to the Museum of African American History?
Andy: Yes! The exhibition Freedom Rising Collection was brilliant! I loved it!
Rita: Too bad we didn’t have time to go to Little Italy and to go on a cruise in the USS Constitution, the historical ship.
Andy: And to Legoland Boston. Let’s go back, please!
C.
Teacher: Good morning, dear students. Today, your classmate Victoria is taking us on a city tour around Oxford. Victoria, please…
Victoria: Good afternoon, everyone! Welcome to my tour around Oxford. This is a wonderful city, best known for its university but this
isn’t the only landmark to visit! Come along and let me show you around. After going to the city centre, you must visit the Carfax Tower,
a wonderful place for sightseeing, with great views over the city. Art lovers must go to the Modern Art Gallery, near the fantastic Town
Hall building. Don’t forget High Street, one of the best places to go for a walk and get to know several university sites.
In the afternoon, after having lunch and going shopping at Cornmarket Street, Oxford Castle and St George’s Tower are great options.
Visiting museums in Beaumont Street or seeing animals and plants in Grove Park may be a good choice, too. In the evening, the
Sheldonian Theatre is a must-go place to watch magnificent British plays.
Oxford is a city full of historical and mysterious places, with the university as its main landmark. This is a must-see English city!
