General Objectives: Identify and explain the key components of a computer, understand their
functions, and recognize their role in overall system functionality.
Specific Objectives: At the end of this lesson, students should be able to;
• Identify the key components of the computer with 70% accuracy.
 Gain an understanding of the features and functions of different computer components with
70% accuracy.
• Differentiate among the different storage media with 80% accuracy throughout lesson.
• Demonstrate the impact on the role of the overall system and how its functionality applies to
everyday life’s 80% accuracy after live demonstration.
*Due to a lack of Internet Teacher may have to improvise given the activity.
Engage: (15mins)
Teacher will start with a brief discussion about the importance of computers in daily life.
Teacher will ask students to share their thoughts on what makes a computer work. Introduce the
lesson objectives. Explain that they will be learning about the fundamental components of a
computer and how they work together
Explore: (25mins)
Teacher will introduce students to a PowerPoint Presentation on the Components of the
Computer. The Presentation will highlight the key components of a computer: CPU, RAM,
Storage (HDD/SSD), Motherboard, Power Supply Unit (PSU), and peripherals (mouse,
keyboard, monitor). Through the use of the PowerPoint teacher will briefly explain the function
of each component and show real-world examples of these components.
Explain: (10mins)
Teacher will take students through a classroom discussion on the topic and presentation. Teacher
will encourage students to ask questions and participate in the discussion about the components
presented. Teacher would further relate the components to everyday experiences. For example,
comparing RAM to short-term memory, and storage to long-term memory.
Elaborate: 15 minutes
Teacher will divide the class into small groups of two and assign each group to a computer. Each
group will be asked to visit the GOOGLE CLASSROOM Space and attempt the quiz that was
posted. The Kahoot,com game will facilitate the students with a set of component cards and
descriptions and instruct them to match each description with the correct component. Teacher
can control question flow to further facilitate a discussion during the activity to reinforce
understanding.
Evaluate: (15 minutes)
Teacher would provide 15mins for students to conduct a research on the latest developments in
computer components or emerging technologies. Research document should be posted to google
classroom for grading
