Reason: Software version 1.8 has been released. This software upgrade:
• Eliminates false failures during the transmitter power self-test by
adjusting the pass/fail parameters to the correct range.
• Software Version 1.8 and Mod D together adds new extended
audio callout feature. The extended audio callouts adds relative
bearing, relative altitude (if available) and range to the aural TA
announcement. Refer to SB805-11900-2 for Mod D information.
Compliance: Customer Units: Units removed from the aircraft and returned to
factory for repair or test and evaluation must have software version
1.8 installed.
NOTE: Cost is included in the repair charges.
New Units: Future production units will incorporate software version
1.8.
Approval: Implementation of this service bulletin may affect the approval of the
unit installation. It is the responsibility of the installer to obtain
government or other regulatory agency approval.
Export Compliance: This technical data is controlled under the Export Administration
Regulations ECCN #7E994 and may not be exported to a foreign
person, either in the United States or abroad without the proper
authorization of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Manpower: Removal and replacement of the TRC899 from the aircraft is not
reimbursable by L-3 Avionics Systems.

Units can only be modified at the factory. When sending the unit to the factory:

Testing Procedures: A performance test is performed on the unit after repairs and
modifications are accomplished.
NOTE
Upon reinstallation, the unit must be calibrated (see Section
4 of the SKY899 Installation Manual for details).
Identification Procedures: Software version 1.8 will be identified by an entry on the S/N & ID tag.
