| Reproducing the Issue
When opening SAP Portal URL (http://:/iri/portal) on Internet Explorer(), you might face following situations:
+ Blank sereen
+ Partial load ofthe expected content
+ Top Level Navigation is not responding
+ Detail Navigation is not responding
+ Content area is not responding.
| Cause
Incorrect rendering/load of the content due to an issue in Internet Explorer to render a content using a different broveser document
mode(Standards/Quirks).
|. Resolution
Follow these important checks in order to guarantee that SAP Portal will render content inthe correct mode
1. Apply SAP note 2152783 to check atthe PAM the Browser Compatibility information for your current version of
OS / Browser / SAP Portal
2. Mlyoware using SAP framework page in Quirks
Set Browser document mode iView inside the framework page
“The Browser Document Mode iView adds an X-U'A-Compatible HTTP header into the webpage which affects the Document Mode.

2.4 Open the Sub Framework "Standard Ajax Headerless” inside your current framework page and edit the Browser
Document Mode iView setting that to IE=EDGE. It will guarantee that standards content in NavMode=10 will be launched in Hage
mode, Note that the Sub Framework is inside the Framework. To runs the entire Framework in Standards Mode;
‘mandatory using Standards mode Ajax Framework.

Once you are using a framework rendering in Quirks, in order to ave UI5/Standards iview/page rendering correctly you must use
Standards headerless framework page (NavMode 10 - setting the “launch in new window property to "Display in separate
headerless portal window (standard mode)" ) as described in SAP KBA 2ouq109 and SAP Note 17372445.
4. Using Application Integration (A.I.) ivews/pages you might use a technology which must be rendered ina browser document
mode which is different than your current framework page.
eg: Portal framework page is configured t
render in Quirks, and when navigating to ALL. iview/page itis rendered in Standards. In this
SAP note 1814711 has to be applied to ensure the correct document mode is used by the application. This is done by adding to the
Application Parameters property value SAP-IE+EmulateIE8 for Quirks or SAP-IE=Edge for Standards as displayed inthe image
below:

Also read SAP Note 2944429 - Desupport of IE11 Quirksmnode for SAPGUI for HTML (WebGUD.
On property “default document rendering mode" check whether iti also correctly set tothe relevant document mode:
"Quirks" OR "Standards"
Please review also the Role structure / workset/ folder / page for the target iView/page
Note that in order to use navMode=10 the iView has tobe directly assigned to the role / worksct- it wil not work when the iView is
assigned toa page

In onder to have any iview/page rendering in Quirks, it must be rendered in a new window using option "Display in separate
headerless portal window (NavMode 3)"8, Use the "Fa - developer tool" in the browser to check the current "browser document mode" to ensure the rendering and to test

9. You can use HTTP Watch or Fiddler to check whether the User Agent string is being passed correctly:
Seatch for X-UA-COMPATIBLE related to the browser document mode iView settings or SAP-IE in case of using an Application

configuration, In cases where a WebDynpro application uses the Navigation API, or LPD_CUST scenarios, these configurations must
