GAUGE
21 sts + 44 rows = about 4 3/4 in. (12 cm) over 2-Color Tweed St pattern.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.
PATTERN STITCHES
K2, p2 Rib (worked over a multiple of 4 sts + 2 additional sts)
Row 1 (RS): K2, *p2, k2; rep from * to end of row.
Row 2: K the knit sts and p the purl sts.
Rep Row 2 for K2, p2 Rib.
NOTES
1. Cowl is worked in one piece, back and forth in rows.
2. Cowl begins and ends with K2, p2 Rib bands. Main section of Cowl is worked in Tweed St pattern.
3. Ends of piece are sewn together to form Cowl.
4. With yarn in back (wyib) refers to the side of the work that is away from you as you work the row. To
move yarn from front to back or back to front, bring yarn between needles. Take care not to wrap yarn
over a needle, this could create an additional st.
5. When working with yarn A, work with a single strand. When working with yarns B or C, work with 2
strands held together.
COWL
With 2 strands of B held together, cast on 150 sts.
Beg with a WS row and with 2 strands of B held together, work in K2, p2 Rib for 5 rows.
Work in 2-Color Tweed St pattern for 44 rows, working Rows 3 and 4 of pattern with 2 strands of B held
together.
Cut B.
Work in 2-Color Tweed St pattern for 46 rows, working Rows 3 and 4 of pattern with 2 strands of C held
together.
Cut A.
With 2 strands of C held together, knit 1 row.
Beg with a WS row and with 2 strands of C held together, work in K2, p2 Rib for 5 rows.
Bind off, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing.
FINISHING
With yarn tail still attached to piece, sew short ends together to make a ring.
Weave in ends.
