Projectile Motion Matching Activity

Instructions:

Read each term and its corresponding description carefully.

Draw a line connecting each term to its correct description. Take your time and make sure your matches
make sense.

If you're unsure about a match, do your best to make an educated guess.

Once you've completed all the matches, review your answers.

Discuss your matches with your classmates to compare answers and learn from each other.

AVTIVITY 2.

Which of the three situations is/are more likely to happen in real -life? Write your explanation
on your answer sheet.

Figure 1.1: Ball thrown by a man at the cliff

In addition, supposed you were able to use a stroboscope in observing a player playing sepak
takraw. As the player kicks the rattan ball, you observed the motion of the rattan ball.

What will be your observations as you look into the motion of the ball on a strobe? Is it
situation A or situation B? What do you think would be the explanation?

Examples of projectiles:

1. Throwing a Football: When a quarterback throws a football, it becomes a projectile. The football
follows a curved path through the air, influenced by its initial velocity and the force of gravity, until it
reaches its destination, typically a receiver's hands.

2. Launching a Rocket: When a rocket is launched into space, it becomes a projectile during the initial
stage of its flight. The rocket follows a trajectory determined by its thrust and the gravitational pull of
the Earth until it reaches outer space.

3. Firing a Cannonball: In historical warfare, cannons were used to fire cannonballs at enemy targets.
When a cannonball is fired, it becomes a projectile, traveling through the air in a curved path until it
strikes its intended target or lands on the ground.
