A large proportion of households do not have access to grid electricity. We
will consider some of the most popular homemade portable engine oil stove.
Building a portable engine oil stove will not be difficult even for a novice home
master and such a devise will cost cheaper that the purchased option. This will
require a minimum set of tools and materials, as well as some free time. Portable
Engine Oil Stove is substitute for LPG in cooking. A study assessed the
Acceptance of the Portable Engine Oil Stove based on success criteria
indicators. This study uses scientific research and experimentation following an
engineering design process (EDP) that provides a basis to plan and building
solutions to problems or develop ways to address the needs of people. A two-
part researcher- made questionnaire was utilized in the survey. The first part
aims to gather the profiles of the respondents in terms of their age, sex, and
classification with respect to the probable use of technology. The second part
was used to collect information on how participants consider the perceived
usefulness (PU), perceived convenience (PC), customization and control (CC),
safety (Sa), and economic effectiveness (EE) of the developed portable engine
oil stove based on Davis’ Technology Acceptance Model. Out of 60 respondents.
The developed portable engine oil stove was acceptable to the users and experts
in all its features. The respondents substantially accepted the developed
technology in terms of its PU, PC, CC, Sa and EE features. Since the data set
came from both target user classification and experts, results revealed that there
are failed to reject Ho in the level of acceptability between the two groups
concerning the developed technology’s PU, PC, CC, Sa, and EE. There is failed
to reject Ho in the participant’s assessment of the acceptance of the developed
portable engine oil stove in some pairs of domains. The study revealed that the
Portable engine oil stove received positive feedback from both users and
experts, with users valuing its convenience.
