SMK BSM Charity Run

Of 10 km around the neighbourhood
Students - compulsory to join
Parents / residents of the nearby neighbourhood - participation fees of RM 5
Purpose : 1) to encourage healthy lifestyle among students
2) raise funds to maintain the school hall
How:
7.30 in the morning - participants gathered at the school field
Warm-up activities
Opening speech by the school principal
Started with the female category
Followed by the male category
Lasted for 2 and a half hours
Short break of 30 minutes , prize giving ceremony was held
- Collected about RM 1500

ADVANTAGES THAT STUDENTS GOT FROM THE ACTIVITY

1) Inculcate the love for sports and physical activities - participate in the run with
friends
2) Spend free time beneficially by doing sports
3) Release stress from studies

REASONS WHY SPORTS ACTIVITIES SHOULD BE HELD MORE IN SCHOOL

1) ENABLE STUDENTS SPEND TIME DOING PHYSICAL EXERCISES OUTSIDE
THE CLASSROOM
2) ENABLE STUDENTS TO MAKE FRIENDS / IMPROVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH
PEERS THROUGH SPORTS
It was the beginning of a new day for Alice, the place looked tidy. It was
Alice’s first time visiting this school library because she had just moved to the
school last week. Being a bookworm, the school library was a must to visit for
Alice. The library boasted books of various genres ranging from
encyclopaedias, dictionaries, magazines, journals , to all sorts of novels. It
was recess when Alice was reading an old novel in the library while a few
other students were also immersed in the books. It was quiet until the school
bell rang.

Just as the school bell rang, she put the novel that she was reading back to
the shelf.Out of the blue, a photograph fell off from the pages.Alice curiously
picked it up.Upon scrutiny, the old photograph was yellowish from the
passage of time and there were three smiling girls in school uniform in the
photo.
One of them looked familiar. To her surprise, Alice realised that one of the
girls was her mother.

Initially, Alice hesitated if she should bring the photograph home.

However, she decided to bring the photograph to show to her mother.
When she reached home , her mother was setting the table for lunch.
She took out the photograph from her bag and asked , ‘ Is this girl in the photo you, mom? ‘
Her mother looked surprised as she set her eyes upon the photograph.
Her mother exclaimed, ‘Yes, it’s me! Where did you get this?’
Alice replied that she found the photo in one of the books at the library.

After a few minute of silence, Mother explained that the photograph was of herself and her
two other close friends, Mary and Suzy. They were close and did everything together -
before they left school. However, after some time, they drifted apart and lost contact with
each other as they left their hometown to pursue studies in new places. As soon as she
finished telling Alice about her past, Mother looked nostalgic. Alice could see that she
wanted to reconnect with her old friends. So, Alice volunteered to help her mother and
posted the old photograph on social media so that mother could reunite with her old friends.

After a few weeks , - surprises kept coming as Mother found all her childhood best friends. -
gathering at their favourite hangout spot, the cafe nearest to the school.
Alice learnt - friendships are delicate - treasure our friends - . ‘
