Project idea:

The primary goal of this project is to enhance accessibility for individuals with disabilities at public bus and train stations in Chennai, India. The
project aims to install ADA-compliant tactile panels, ramps, and other necessary features to ensure a barrier-free environment for people with
disabilities. The project also focusses on training programs and technology integration to enhance the overall experience for passengers with
diverse needs. Technological integration such as audible announcement setups and digital displays to convey important information to all
passengers, regardless of their abilities.

Project Title: Accessible Transit Infrastructure Initiate for Chennai City

By combining physical infrastructure improvements with technology integration and awareness programs, this project aims to create a more
accessible and inclusive public transit system in Chennai, benefiting the entire community.

Project Value Proposition: Why is this an Important Project?

The project's value proposition is rooted in its dedication to converting Chennai's public transport terminals into inclusive and accessible
environments. The initiative hopes to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities, increase urban mobility in general, and strengthen
the city's standing as an inclusive and progressive society. The project aims to remove obstacles and advance fair access to public transit for
people with impairments. It strives to establish an atmosphere where everyone, regardless of physical limitations, can use public transportation
facilities pleasantly and freely by installing ADA-compliant elements.

One of the biggest and most cosmopolitan cities in India is Chennai. It is ensured that a substantial number of individuals with disabilities can
take use of enhanced infrastructure when accessibility measures are implemented in a densely populated area. Chennai has a network of bus
and train stations, making it a key hub for transportation. Improving accessibility in these strategic areas can significantly improve the day-to-
day experiences of people with disabilities by facilitating their mobility throughout the city.

Team members collectively decided the project by using the weighted scoring model. Feasibility, Timeline and Social benefit is comparatively
high and that’s the main reason the project have got more scores. Similar projects have been implemented in many countries such as Canada,
Europe and it will be beneficial to follow the previous projects. There may be favourable economic effects from an accessible public
transportation system. It makes it easier for people with disabilities to engage in the labour and other economic activities, which promotes a
more dynamic and inclusive economy.
