Title: “The Impact of Increasing Food Prices on the Budget of the Families in San Jose, Uson
Masbate”
Observation:
As a student, we rarely see that there is an impact on the budgeting of my family, especially my
parents, when the price of food increases. And as a resident of Masbate, We rarely observe that there are
families stopping their children from going to school because they don’t have enough budget to give
allowance to their child because it's only for the meal budget. But sometimes there are cases where their
budget for the food is not enough because the price is rapidly increasing. So we made this study to prove
that increasing food prices have a significant impact on the budgeting of every family in San Jose, Uson,
Masbate.

Statement of the problem:


This Study aims to determine the impact of increasing food prices on the budget of the families in
San Jose, Uson, Masbate.
Specifically, this study aims to answer the following questions:

1. Does that Increasing food prices has an impact on getting the other needful things of the families
in San Jose, Uson, Masbate?
2. Does increasing food prices affect the budgeting of the families in San Jose, Uson, Masbate?

Hypothesis:
Null Hypothesis: Increasing food prices has no significant impact on the budget of families in San Jose,
Uson, Masbate.
Alternative Hypothesis: Increasing food prices have a significant impact on the budget of families in San
Jose, Uson, Masbate.
Variables:
Dependent Variable: The budget of the families in San Jose, Uson, Masbate.
Independent Variable: Increasing food prices.
Controlled Variables: In this study, controlled variables could include factors such as family income,
household size, and consumption patterns.
Experimentation/Methodology:
We conducted a survey online and face to face to the selected families in San Jose, Uson,
Masbate. We created survey questionnaire that was easy to understand by the respondents. And in online
survey, we made a survey link to gather their answers, and we sent it to them through messenger so that it
would be a hassle-free to them and for us. And it saves also our time and money because to those families
that have internet, we just send them the link. Because printing now is expensive. We got 60 samples out
of the total population of San Jose, Uson Masbate.

Conclusion:

The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the increasing food prices and
the budget of the families in San Jose, Uson, Masbate. All in all, we found out that the increasing of food
prices affects the budgeting of the families in San Jose, Uson, Masbate. That, it is true that increasing
food prices has an impact on getting the other needful things of every household in San Jose, Uson,
Masbate.
That is, our research study has shown that increasing food prices have a significant impact on the
budget of every family in San Jose, Uson, Masbate. The data highlights the profound effect of rising food
prices on household budgets in San Jose, Uson, Masbate. Families are compelled to continuously adjust
their financial plans, pursue additional income sources, and implement various cost-saving strategies,
including opting for cheaper food alternatives and minimizing waste. This financial strain extends beyond
food expenses, significantly impacting the ability to afford other essential needs. Consequently,
households are reducing spending on non-essential items, entertainment, and major purchases, with some
even incurring increased debt. This underscores the pervasive and far-reaching impact of rising food
prices on the overall economic well-being of families in the community.
