C. Reason
(1) Airline operators have reported that “RAMD” faults have resulted in removals of the
TCAS unit from the aircraft. When these units are tested in the Service Centers, they
show RAMD internal failures logged in TCAS NVM, and pass the Return to Service test.
So, the units are returned to the airline customers as “No Fault Found” (NFF).
(2) If there are multiple “RAMD” faults logged along with repeat returns due to “RAMD”
faults, Service Centers might replace the Digital Processor Module.

D. References
(1) To find, see, and download Honeywell Technical Publications, go to
https://aerospace.honeywell.com/us/en/redirects/sso/technical-publications.

E. Action
(1) If “RAMD” fault is logged during flight, run a TCAS self-test on ground, if test passes,
do not remove the TCAS processor from the airplane.
(2) If there are multiple “RAMD” faults logged in subsequent sectors of flight, only then
remove the TCAS processor and send it to service center for inspection and repair as
necessary.
(3) Solution - Honeywell plans to address this issue with a TCAS software change in the
future software load.
