•Need of asymptote
•Types of asymptote
An asymptote is a straight line that constantly approaches a given
curve but does not meet at any infinite distance

Why we need Asymptotes:

Asymptotes are important guides when sketching the curves of functions. This is
why it’s important that we know the properties, general forms, and graphs of each
of these asymptotes.
Types of asymptote
1. Horizontal Asymptote
2. Vertical Asymptote
3. Oblique Asymptote
Horizontal Asymptote:
When x moves to infinity or -infinity, the curve approaches some constant value b,
and is called a Horizontal Asymptote.
Vertical Asymptote:

When x approaches some constant value c from left or

right, the curve moves towards infinity (i.e.,∞) , or -
infinity (i.e., -∞) and this is called Vertical Asymptote.
Oblique Asymptote :

When x moves towards infinity (i.e.,∞) , or -

infinity (i.e., -∞), the curve moves towards a
line y = mx + b, called Oblique Asymptote.
