Dear Parents,

We are excited to announce an upcoming Interschool Competition Meru Utsav organized by Meru
International School, where our talented students will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and
represent our school. If your child is interested in participating, kindly inform their respective class
teacher about the event in which they would like to participate. 1 child can participate in only 1
event.

Please note that the number of participants is limited, and therefore, a preliminary round/auditions will
be conducted in our school on the 13th& 14th of July. This round will determine the finalists who will
represent our school in the final competition.

For the preliminary round, props are not required. However, once the finalists are selected, then the
props will be needed for the final competition as per the details given along with the event. You are
requested to ensure your child is prepared accordingly.

We are pleased to inform you that transport from the school to the venue of the competition will be
provided by the school. Additionally, a dedicated teacher in charge will be accompanying and
supervising the students throughout the event.

This Interschool Competition is a wonderful platform for our students to showcase their talents, boost
their confidence, and foster a spirit of healthy competition. We encourage active participation and look
forward to seeing our students shine.

1. Shades of expression

General Rules & Regulations:

● Participants need to get all the required materials (eco-friendly material - dry leaves,
twines, jute rope, stones, sticks, carton box, glue, feathers, clay…etc). No plastic,
thermocol or colors to be used.
● Participants need to follow the theme.
● Result will be based on the Judges' Judgement.

2. Music - Melodies
Name of the Event : Music- Melodies
Format : On Campus (MIS)
Grade : Grade 3-4
Event Brief : Group singing competition.
No. of Rounds :1
Individual/Group event : Group
Theme : AMITY (Friendly and trustworthy relations among the nations)
Maximum Participants : 1 Group with 6-10 participants.
Duration : 4 minutes

General Rules & Regulations:


● Must wear a school uniform with an ID card.
● The song selected should be relevant to the theme.
● Songs should be appropriate to the theme and participants can choose movie songs which
are related to the theme and have good lyrics and meaning. Decency in choosing
songs/lyrics is highly expected. (Objectionable lyrics in the songs will lead to
disqualification.)

● Any indecency will result in disqualification of the team and the performance will be stopped
midway.
● Can use karaoke for the performance.(should carry it in a pendrive.)
● Only English songs are allowed.

3.Power of Dance
Name of the event : Group Dance competition.
Format : On Campus
Grade : 3-4
Theme : Elements of Nature
Event Brief : Students have the liberty to choose a song related to Earth,
Wind & Fire and perform it.
Maximum Participants :1 group with min of 5 and maximum 15 students

No.of Rounds : 1
Dance Style : Any
Participating Grade : 3-4
Duration : 4 Minutes

General Rules & Regulations:


1. One Group from each school can take part in the competition.
2. Can use one or more songs/medley to perform within the given duration
3. Participants need to use property in their dance which is mandatory.Any material used for the
competition to be strictly eco friendly. Thermocol usage is strictly not allowed..
4. Songs should be appropriate to the theme and participants can choose movie songs which
are related to the theme and have good lyrics and meaning. Decency in choosing
songs/lyrics is highly expected. (Objectionable lyrics in the songs will lead to

Theme : Responsible consumption and production
Event Brief : Model presentation on Sustainable Innovation for better
livelihood with the help of miniature models of existing projects. The presentation should have an
emphasis on showcasing how these innovations ensure that the natural resources are available to the
future generations.

Maximum Participants : Maximum 5 participants per school
Presentation Duration : Maximum 10 minutes

General rules and Regulations:

1. Students can choose any topics related to sustainable innovation.

2. Suggested ideas related to the topic to choose:

● Roads made out of plastic waste.


● Solar power tree
● Low – cost wind turbines
● Edible Cutlery
● Portable Bio gas etc

3. Participants would bring their model, present it and explain the science behind it. Usage of Eco
friendly materials is mandatory in preparing the model. Thermocol usage is strictly not allowed.

arrange their models as it is a time bound activity.

CARPE DIEM - SEIZE THE DAY

Event Brief: Our event aims to create engaging and informative travel plans that not only showcase the
historical aspects but also incorporate the local culture, traditions, and immersive experiences. This
theme would inspire participants to research and present compelling itineraries that offer a unique
blend of education, adventure, and cultural exploration.Also encourage travelers to have a positive
impact on the hill stations they visit, promote responsible tourism practices, and contribute to the long-
term preservation and well-being of these destinations.

Presentation on Itinerary on Hill Stations -1 Group per school ( 2-3 members) (5 mins for each
group, Offline at Meru International School)

Theme: "Game-e-thon: Math craft challenge for a Greener world!”

Event Brief: It is a team-based game design challenge. Participants will work in teams of four to create
an innovative game using reusable resources or waste materials. The game should incorporate
mathematical concepts and promote environmental sustainability. This task aims to encourage
teamwork, creativity, and the application of mathematical knowledge in a practical and eco-friendly way.

Creation Time: 1 hour

Participants will have 1 hour to work collaboratively as a team to design and construct their mathcraft
game. This time constraint will encourage teams to think creatively and efficiently utilize their time to
create a unique and engaging game that incorporates mathematical concepts and eco-friendly
elements.

Participants will be responsible for acquiring their own resources for the game design challenge. They
should be encouraged to use reusable resources or waste materials that are readily available to them.
This can include items such as cardboard, paper, plastic bottles, bottle caps, yarn, fabric scraps, and
other materials that can be repurposed for the game design. Any material used for the competition
to be strictly eco friendly. Thermocol usage is strictly not allowed.

Presentation time: 5 minutes per team

Each team will have 5 minutes to present their mathcraft game to the judging panel. During this time,
teams should focus on various aspects of their game, including the resources used, the mathematical
concepts incorporated, and the practical application within the game.

Teams can showcase the reusable resources or waste materials they utilized in their game's
construction, explaining how these materials contribute to environmental sustainability. They should
highlight the specific mathematical concepts integrated into the gameplay and demonstrate how players
will engage with these concepts while playing the game.

Teams should effectively communicate their ideas, demonstrating their creativity, resourcefulness, and
understanding of mathematical concepts. They can use visuals, prototypes, or any other supporting
materials to enhance their presentation and engage the judging panel.

Judgement Criteria

Total marks - 25

1. Mathematical Integration (5 marks): Assess the effective incorporation of mathematical


concepts suitable for Grades 3 and 4. Consider the depth and accuracy of mathematical
content, how well the gameplay aligns with mathematical principles, and the educational value
of the game in reinforcing mathematical understanding.
2. Eco-Friendliness (5 marks): Evaluate the game's commitment to environmental sustainability.
Consider the use of reusable resources or waste materials, the potential for the game to
promote recycling or conservation, and the overall eco-friendliness of the game design and
components.
3. Innovation and Creativity (5 marks): Assess the originality, uniqueness, and creativity

Practical based event: 1 Hour (Offline at Meru International School)

General Rules & Regulations:

1. It is a group event (3 participants each team).

2. Application to be used is MS Word.

Theme- : Fire free cooking
Event Brief : Preparing food without fire

Duration : 30 mins

General Rules & Regulations:

1. Participants should not bring any pre-cooked items however boiled veggies are allowed.
2. No recipe to be made using chemicals (Vinegar, baking soda…etc).
3. Participants are supposed to display a chart having the name & ingredients of the dish.
4. All required materials, tools and equipment should be arranged by the participants.
5. Children have to prepare and present a dish using 5 main ingredients and speak about it in 3-4
lines in English.
6. Participants need to prepare the dish on their own in the assigned station at the host school.
7. FIRE FREE COOKING- NO microwave, oven or gas stove on the spot is allowed or will be
provided.
8. Dishes should be purely vegetarian.
9. Maximum number of ingredients to be used for the dish should not exceed 10.
10. Participants need to bring pre- chopped veggies if required for their dish keeping safety as
priority.
11. Host School will provide a table for the arrangement of the dish.
