A short description of methodology

Hakaluki Haor has been considered as areas of Interest which covers 11 unions. Satellite images
have been downloaded considering three different times from USGS Landsat satellite. The following
table shows the different product types with specific date of acquisition.

Table: Data Sources and date of acquisition

Data Sources Path Row Cloud Date of Acquisition

Landsat 8-9 OLI/TIRS C2 level 1 136 43 Less than 5% 30-01-2024
Landsat 8-9 OLI/TIRS C2 level 1 136 43 Less than 5% 18-01-2014
Landsat 7 ETM+ C2 Level-1 136 43 Less than 5% 28-01-2003

After downloading the satellite images, different bands have been composited using the “composite
bands” tool in arcgis. These composited images have been extracted from the area of interest using
“extract by mask” tool. “Supervised classification” has been employed to classify the extracted
composited image where training samples have been identified prior to this analysis. A ground level
checking has been performed using “google earth pro”. These classified images from three different
periods have been converted into polygons based on land classification through “Raster to Polygon”
tool. The polygon of wetlands in three different periods have been calculated statistically using
attribute table via calculate geometry tool in arcgis.
