HEALTH, SAFEY & ENVIRONMENTAL PLAN

1. SITE ESTABLISHMENT

1.1 344 2011 Construction, will ensure that an updated health, safety & environmental file is available on site
and accessible to an Inspector at all times.

1.2 The Company SHE Policy is communicated and trained to all employees and displayed at the site office.

1.3 An updated copy of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations will be available on site for
any of our employees to peruse if they feel the need to verify any issues pertaining to Health and Safety

1.4 AFRICA SURVEYORS Projects will ensure that a valid Letter of Good Standing from the Compensation
Commissioner is obtained together with the Employers Report of an Accident Forms

1.5 AFRICA SURVEYORS will ensure all the Environmental Management Plans of the principle contractor is
trained to all their workers and is adhered to.

2. HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIFICATIONS

2.1 The Principle Employer Safety Specifications will be adhered to and enforced on site.
344 2011 CONSTRUCTIONS Projects Safety Plan has been drawn up according to these specifications
which will also form part of our Safety File

3. APPOINTMENTS

These will be made by: Management Representative as requested by the client or as per

3.1 Project Manager – delegation of duties in terms of section 16(2) of the act if applicable
3.2 Construction Manager – in terms of CR 8(1) - Appointment is with Marques and Associates

4. REGISTERS

4.1 344 2011 CONSTRUCTIONS Projects will ensure that all the required registers are kept up to date by the
appointed responsible persons and that all recorded deviations are attended to immediately.

4.2 The following registers will be kept in the Safety File: IF AND WHEN NEEDED ON SITE

- Training Attendance Register on going


- H & S Rep Inspection Register monthly
- First Aid Dressing Register updated as required (as per injury)
- First Aid Box Contents monthly inspection
- Gas Welding Equipment Register Updated as and when required (welding is normal done
at workshop)
- Ladder Register monthly
- Scaffolding Register monthly
- Fire Extinguisher Register monthly
- Portable Electric Tools Register weekly/monthly
- Hand Tools Register monthly
- Safety Harness Register monthly
- Personal Protective Equipment Register on going
- Electrical installation and cables. Daily

5. RISK ASSESSMENTS

5.1 The responsible Risk Assessor will identify all the potential hazards and risks, and compile risk assessments
pertaining to the tasks that our employees will perform, and the hazards that they will be exposed to. The
risk assessment will identify the control measures. Control measure will consist of training, engineering,
and Personal Protective Equipment.

5.2 Training on the risk assessments will be done before any new task is performed.

5.3 Risk Assessments will include but is not restricted to:

- Offloading equipment from vehicles

- Use of ladders
- Use of electrical tools
- Working in elevated positions
- Safe use of hand tools
- Manual handling

6. SAFE WORK PROCEDURES

6.1 Safe work procedures will be drawn for each risk assessment. All workers will be trained on the Safe
Working Procedure and risks associated with it.

7. INJURY INVESTIGATION & FIRST AID

7.1 First Aid injuries will be treated on site and recorded on a first aid dressing register.
An appointed first aider will be on site once the workforce has reached over 10.
A first aid box will be kept on site. It will be inspected and refilled as necessary.
An Injury register will be kept on site and all injuries recorded on the register. The register will be kept in
the SHE files.

7.2 All medical injuries where medical attention is required will be investigated and recorded on an Annexure 1
Acccident / Incident Investigation Form.

7.3 Injuries resulting in an employee being absent from work for more than 14 days will be reported to the
Department of Labour.

7.4 All incidents which include first aid, near misses, medicals, oil spills and any emission which could cause
pollution will be reported to the Principle Contractors Safety Department.

8. TRAINING

8.1 All 344 2011 Constructions employees will attend the Site Induction and will have medical screening
before coming on site. Proof of induction and medicals will be kept on file.

8.2 All employees will be trained on Section 8 of the act - Employees Responsibilities, Safe use of PPE and
Risk Assessments pertaining to the work that will be performed.

9. HEALTH & SAFETY AUDITS

9.1 The 344 2011 Constructions Safety File will be available at all times for Audits by the Principle Employer,
Client or Government Inspector.

10. CONTRACTORS

10.1 All subcontractors required to carry out work for 344 2011 Constructions Projects, will be required to
submit a Safety File with the necessary safety documentation as per the Site Safety Specifications

11. TOOLBOX TALKS

11.1 Toolbox talks will be conducted on a weekly basis by the Site Supervisor. Records will be kept on file.

11.2 All employees will be required to sign a training register as proof of attendance.

12. FACILITIES

12.1 Ablutions and Eating areas will be provided as per the OHSACT.

13. HEALTH AND SAFETY REPRESENTATIVES

13.1 344 2011 CONSTRUCTIONS Projects will appoint a trained Safety Rep on a full-time basis on site as per
the OHSACT.

13.2 He / She will carry out monthly inspections of his area of work and records of these inspections will be kept
in the site Safety File

13.3 The Safety Rep will be appointed as a health and safety committee member and will attend all site safety
meetings.

14. HOUSEKEEPING

14.1 A Daily Safe Task Instruction will form the basis of ensuring housekeeping is monitored before and at the
end of the Shift. When 344 2011 Constructions makes use of hazardous materials, they will ensure the
waste is removed and sent to a registered Hazardous Waste Company.

All personal will be trainee don the MSDS and MSDS will be on hand in file in case of first aid and
emergencies. If a personal requires medical attention the MSDS must be take with them to the medical
facility that will be treating the personal.

14.2 344 2011 Constructions understand the important of the environmental and ensuring sustainable
development. We will re-cycle, reused, and reduce when we can. All left over steel is recycled & reused.

15 PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

15.1 344 2011 CONSTRUCTIONS Projects will supply all its employees with the correct PPE as required by
the Risk Assessment and the Principal Employer.

15.2 The Site Supervisor will conduct daily visual inspections of employees wearing their PPE

15.3 The following is the minimum requirement for entry on site:


Hard Hats
Safety Boots
Overalls

15.4 Other PPE requirements will be task specific, activity and machine/Plant specific.

16. SITE TRANSPORT

16.1 As per the Principal Employer’s site specification, employees will not be transported on any open back
vehicle.

16.2 Only vehicles with a proper canopy will be acceptable to transport employees on site

17.1 DRUGS AND ALCOHOL.

344 2011 Constructions have ZERO TOLERENCE to drugs and alcohol.


Any worker is found under the influence or suspected to be under the influence will be tested and if found.
The worker/s be removed and not allowed back on site.
