PD OBSERVATION REFLECTIONS

Teacher: Wiktoria Turowska Observer: James

Date: 04/03/2022 Level: K

I felt I achieved/did not achieve my main aim because ….

I feel like I achieved my main aims of the lesson. Students were able to discuss the picture together and recognise the
animals and I feel they did it quite well. Another main aim was to teach them vocabulary by showing a picture a
monkey and a turtle where they had to match the words with the body parts. However, I feel like I could have put
them in groups differently, they could have worked in pairs of two instead of two different groups. Overall, I feel that
I have achieved my main aims but there are things I need to work on.

I felt I achieved/did not achieve my subsidiary aims because ….

My subsidiary aims were to practice prepositions of place. I asked some questions while we were discussing the
pictures and I feel that students were able to create sentences and they were able to recognise prepositions of place I
feel like we worked quite well together, and I have achieved my subsidiary aims. Students were able to create
sentences and recognise new vocabulary. We have also played a miming game to see if students can recognise
animals, but I think we played this game a bit too long. I also didn’t do my warm-up activity because of the time, I was
worried that I would run out of time.

I felt I achieved/did not achieve my PD objectives because ….

I feel I achieved my PD objectives because I tried to make the lesson interesting, and I feel like me and students
worked well together. I also tried to use some ideas from Diana’s lesson. I did not want children to sit down the whole
lesson and do activities and I feel like there was a good balance between the activities. However, I feel that I still need
to work on my instructions to make sure that students understand what they need to do. I also tried my best to stand
in front of everyone so they could see me.

Next time I would:

Next time I would put students in pairs of two, I think it caused some chaos in the classroom working in two different
groups and they finished this activity quite quick. Next time I will also give clearer instructions to make sure students
understand everything. I was 5 min late because of manifestations in the city centre and I got a little bit stressed. I
didn’t start the lesson how I wanted to and next time I need to make sure that everything goes as planned.
