The topic chosen is health and wellness, a core issue in the digital literacy and

information age. This topic of discussion will be synthesized by combing information from the

web, combining it with general knowledge already learnt in classwork and packaging it

appropriately to fully engage the group members and wrap their attention around the matter.

After reading the relevant class material supplemental information will be extracted from

internet sources. The specific topic to be discussed under healthcare and wellness is women

access to maternal care in sub-Saharan countries. The reliable source consulted is a journal titled

Women’s autonomy and utilization of maternal healthcare services in 31 Sub-Saharan African

countries: results from the demographic and health surveys, 2010–2016 (Chol et al., 2019)

published by the National Library of Medicine. The journal is about the state of maternal health in

the sub-Saharan region and how women can autonomously access care in the region.

I would synthesize the information from the source through intensive reading to deduce the

main points, concerns and deficiencies of the research. I would rationally engage the source to

draw conceptual similarities that align to healthcare. I will also synthesize the source by giving a

clear outline of the major chapters and topics in terms of their relevance, including the various

organizational components like paragraphs, topic sentences, abstract, introduction and valid

conclusion.

I will present the content of the source in form of short, concise notes that capture the main

points, keywords, and dominant ideas. I want my group members to know the importance of

women maternal health, and how demographic changes affect maternal health especially in the

sub-Saharan countries experiencing high poverty (Weitzman, 2017). The members need to know

how policy making could be applied to better maternal health among women in a global scale. To

make sure the information is clear and concise, I will share it inform of short notes in a PowerPoint

presentation, appropriately citing all the authors. PowerPoint presentations are clear, easy to read

and follow by the group members.
