Opening: Greeting & Self-introduction: Ask students their first name here. (1-2 min.)

--Warm-up (5 min.)
T: Let’s practice Warm-up. First, I will read it alone. Please listen carefully. (Read the skit.)
T: Next, please repeat after me. “We’re having a birthday party for Lisa on Saturday afternoon. Would you like to come?”
S: “We’re having a birthday party for Lisa on Saturday afternoon. Would you like to come?”

T: Next, let’s do role play. First, can you read Allen’s part? (Read the skit with students.)
T: Good. Now, let’s change roles. Can you read Saya’s part? (Read the skit with students.)

T: Let’s practice Today’s Key Sentences.
Please repeat after me, okay? “If I were rich, I would travel in Europe.”
S: “If I were rich, I would travel in Europe.” (Practice it twice.)
(T: Good!) (Correct pronunciation if necessary.)
(Practice all sentences twice.)
--Key Sentence ① (2-3 min.)
T: Let’s practice Key Sentence ①. Please repeat after me, okay? “If I were rich, I would travel in Europe.”

T: OK. Next, look at the second sentence. Please repeat after me. “If I had more time, I could see a lot of movies.”
S: “If I had more time, I could see a lot of movies.” (Practice it twice.)
T: Good! (Correct pronunciation if necessary.)

--Key Sentence ② (2-3 min.)


T: Let’s practice Key Sentence ②. Please repeat after me, okay? “If we had been there, we could have helped you.”
S: “If we had been there, we could have helped you.”
T: OK. Next, look at the second sentence. Please repeat after me. “If you had got up earlier, you wouldn’t have been late for
school.”
S: “If you had got up earlier, you wouldn’t have been late for school.” (Practice it twice.)
T: Good! (Correct pronunciation if necessary.)
(Practice all sentences twice.)
--Key Sentence ③ (2-3 min.)
T: Let’s practice Key Sentence ③. Please repeat after me, okay? “I wish I were a rock star.”
S: “I wish I were a rock star.”
T: OK. Next, look at the second sentence. Please repeat after me. “I wish I knew his phone number.”
S: “I wish I knew his phone number.” (Practice it twice.)
T: Good! (Correct pronunciation if necessary.)

--Practice (5 min.)
T: Let’s move on to Practice now. In this part, you have to use the words in the box.
Please repeat the example after me. “If I had enough money, I would buy a new car.”
S: “If I had enough money, I would buy a new car.”

If I were you, I would read more books.

If I had studied harder, I could have passed the exam.


If I had left five minutes later, I would have missed the train.

I wish I could play the guitar well.

--Dictation (5 min.)
T: Let’s move on to Dictation. First, please read the Japanese sentences SILENTLY.
(After a few seconds…)
Are you ready?
S: Yes.
T: Good! I will read each sentence once and you have 20 seconds to write it on your paper. Let’s start.
(Hide the next page and read the sentences aloud once. Give the student 20 seconds to write each sentence.)
T: “If I were rich, I would travel in Europe.”
S: (Writes the sentence on the paper.)
T: Next, “If we had been there, we could have helped you.”
S: (Writes the sentence on the paper.)
T: Next, “I wish I were a rock star.”
(After writing the sentences, let the student read aloud the sentences he/she wrote.)
T: This time, please read your sentences to me.
S: (Reads the sentences aloud.)
(Click the icon to show the slide. Let the student repeat after the tutor if there’s still time.)
T: Now, look at the sentences on the slide. Please listen carefully and repeat after me.
