We would like to draw your attention to the availability of an engineering hand tool called the POL-100. This
tool has been developed by Notifier Spain to specifically:

 Reduce the time it takes to commission new TC800 or System Sensor Protocol systems
 Reduce the time taken to find loop related issues on existing systems and
upgrades
 Reduce the risk of margin erosion by allowing you to pre-commission
the system prior to the arrival of the control panel on site

This tool is a must for all HBS Service and commissioning departments. It does
not matter which control panel is used: XLS80e, FS90, XLS1000, ZX*Se, as the
POL-100 connects to the loop (anywhere in the field) and communicates directly with
the devices.

It will pay for itself within one or

two projects - from then on it
creates margin for you!

In short, POL-100 will cut your engineering time and reduce your exposure to risk.

POL-100 is a hand tool designed for checking and detecting faults on Honeywell Fire Alarm System loops. It is
compatible with TC800A dual protocol devices (Advanced and CLIP) and older S200 and 500 series (CLIP only)
devices as well as System Sensor protocol. The tool can be used to spread the risk of delays/repairs for new
projects by enabling an engineer to conduct pre-commissioning tests a long time in advance of the control and
indicating equipment being installed on site – find and resolve issues earlier in a project.

In addition it can be used with retro-fit/upgrades to help with the initial estimation in identifying up-front with the
customer, areas of concern and potential remedial works. Or existing sites that have encountered a loop based
problem as a result of damage or influence from a third party.

This tool provides identification of the number, type, address and condition of the devices connected, as well as
an indication of the health of the loop (e.g. Effects of Resistance (R), Inductance (L) and Capacitance (C)).
Where TC800A devices are used, it can also read the device EPROM in order to see manufacturing date, version,
short-circuits and, when isolator based devices are correctly installed, the position of the device on the loop with
respect to other devices – subject to position and number of other isolators.

You can obtain the POL-100 from your local Honeywell Life Safety (HLS) office. Pricing will vary slightly
dependent upon territory – please speak directly with your local HLS office for further details. As an example the
UK price has been detailed below:

and shock protection casing. Config tool available later this year for report
and bitmap generation.

Transport bag, proving added protection enabling the engineer to move

environment when working at height.

released features!

How to disable "Protected Mode":

Is there a simple datasheet I can use to promote its use within my team?
Yes there is, click on the imbedded PDF to the right. If you are having trouble opening the file – see note at the
top of the page 1 – you can go to the POL-100 presentation area within the team room and download it from

Will I need to update my quotation package with anything?

The only thing you will need to do, assuming you are or soon will be using the POL-100, is to make sure you are
prepared for the additional margin you will capture and or the reduced time spent on site doing the tests – it really
is that good!

I have a POL-100 and wish to upgrade it, how do I do this please?

Please click here to go to the POL-100 section of the team room and access the Software Firmware folder. You
will need to follow, very carefully, the Software Update Bulletin (see imbedded PDF on page1). You will need
to use this in conjunction with the relevant upgrade files located within the secure folder location within the fire
team room. If you are denied access, or yo cannot see anything, then simply click the link to request access or

The information within this part of the manual has been removed for general distribution as it contains company
confidential information. Please contact me so that we can discuss your needs for this information in greater

How can I obtain some face to face training on the devices?

If you purchase 4 or more POL-100 units for your team as part of the same order, face to face training can be
arranged as long as we can have 4 or more engineers in attendance – subject to availability. Click here to contact

Is the resistance or multi-meter capability of the POL-100 accurate?

The POL-100 is not a factory calibrated resistance/current meter and as such any values provided should be
viewed as guidance only. In addition, the interaction of the devices wired in parallel on the loop can also provide
inaccurate readings. That said, for the purposes of fault finding the multi-meter function can be used very
successfully. Please refer to the POL-100 manual for further details on this subject. Click here to download the
