1. Aft Drain Mast — Removal / Installation
A. General
The aft drain mast is located on the bottom of the fuselage at FS 715.
B. Preparation
SPECIAL TOOLS AND TEST EQUIPMENT
Circuit breaker safety clip ...................................................................... GSE2400984 or equivalent
Protective caps and plugs .................................................................................................. Standard
Scraper, nonmetallic ........................................................................................................... Standard
CONSUMABLES
Cloth, lint free ...................................................................................................................... Standard
Lubricant .......................................................................................................................... GAC115P1
O-ring ..................................................................................................... E1257-70/2-015 (see Note)
O-ring ..................................................................................................... E1257-70/2-017 (see Note)
Sealant ........................................................................................................ MIL-S-81733 (see Note)
Sealant .......................................................................................................................... AMS-S-8802
Sealant ....................................................................................................... GAG810GG2 (see Note)
NOTE: Refer to Aircraft Illustrated Parts Catalog, 38-32-00, Fig. 4, Drain System Valves, Heaters
and Sensors for all part numbers.
Although MIL-S-81733 is the preferred sealant due to its corrosion inhibitive properties, it
should not be used to seal external areas that are to be painted, as chromates in sealant
can stain exterior paint schemes. As a suitable alternative, AMS-S-8802 should be used
on exterior applications.
As an acceptable alternative, MIL-S-81733 sealant may be used if GAG810GG2 is not
available.

(c) Remove interior furnishings and carpeting, as required, to gain access to floorboard
being removed.
(d) Remove floor heater mats, if installed. See Supplemental Heating - Removal /
Installation, 25-27-00, Removal / Installation or Code 252070.
(e) Remove floorboard 14E, as required. See Figure 401.
C. Removal
CAUTION: WITHOUT RELEASE AGENT, CARE MUST BE TAKEN DURING LOOSENING /
REMOVING THE FAY SEAL AS THE MOUNTING FLANGE IS COMPOSITE AND
DAMAGE TO DRAIN MAST MAY OCCUR.
NOTE: The following numbers in parentheses ( ) are used in conjunction with Figure 402.
(1) Using nonmetallic scraper, remove sealant from around base of drain mast (1).
(2) Remove sealant and vinyl covers (2) from screws (3).
(3) Disconnect electrical connector from drain mast (1).
(4) Remove couplings (4, 5) securing drain lines to drain mast (1).
(5) Remove screws (3) from drain mast (1).
(6) Carefully lower drain mast (1) from fuselage (6).
(7) Remove O-rings (7, 8) from drain mast fittings. Discard O-rings (7, 8).
CAUTION: FAILURE TO INSTALL PROPER PROTECTIVE CAPS AND PLUGS ON
ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS, LINES, TUBES, PORTS AND FITTINGS MAY
RESULT IN DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(8) Install protective caps and plugs on all electrical connectors, fittings and water lines.
D. Installation
CAUTION: DURING INSTALLATION, UNEVEN OR EXCESSIVE TORQUE CAN CAUSE A
STRESS CRACK.
NOTE: The following numbers in parentheses ( ) are used in conjunction with Figure 402.
(1) Remove all protective caps and plugs from all electrical connectors, fittings and water lines.
(2) If drain mast (1) removed in Step 1.C.(6) is to be installed, remove old sealant from base of
drain mast with nonmetallic scraper.
(3) Clean base of drain mast (1) with a lint free cloth.
(4) Lubricate and install O-rings (7, 8) on drain mast fittings.
(5) Apply fay seal around base of drain mast (1) with GAG810GG2 sealant. See Sealing
Standard Practices, 20-42-00, Maintenance Practices.
NOTE: As an acceptable alternative, MIL-S-81733 sealant may be used if GAG810GG2 is
not available.
Allow adequate time for sealant to set prior to application.
(6) Position drain mast (1) on mounting surface on fuselage (6). Ensure drain lines and drain
mast fittings are mated.
(7) Install drain mast (1) to fuselage (6) by wet installing screws (3) coated with MIL-S-81733
