SEMESTER SPRING 2024

EXPERIMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY (PSYP402)

ASSIGNMENT NO 01
BC220200839
Case Scenario # 1:
In a university, students of BS (Psychology) were divided into two groups for the same
course. One group was given the traditional handbook to prepare for the course. The other
group was given an interactive textbook having research findings and experiments included
in it. After the course ended, final term exams’ marks of both groups were compared with
each other.

Case Scenario # 2:
Sidra, a student of Botany wants to study how colors of light can impact the growth of plants.
For this purpose, she buys 5 sunflower plants of the same height and age. She places them in
white, blue, red, green and black light respectively. All the plants are given 25 ml of water
every day for three weeks. After three weeks, Sidra watches the plants and take their
measurements.
Case Scenario # 3:
Amina, a teacher of mathematics divided ninth grade students into two groups for the
mathematics course. One group was given the mathematical practice exercises. The other
group provided interactive sessions on mathematics. After the course ended, Amina measured
and compared the marks on mathematics course of both groups.

Case Scenario # 4:
, a researcher wants to study the effects of sleep hours on reaction time of students. She took
one group with 5 hours sleep and another group with 8 hours sleep. After this, she conducted
an experiment of reaction time on both groups. In the end, she measured and compared the
reaction time of both groups.

Sr. No. Independent Dependent Justification for both variables

Variable Variable

Case Scenario No.01 Traditional Final term exam 1. The independent variable is the
handbook and marks are the calculate that's controlled by the
Interactive textbook dependent variable experimenter, which in this case is
are the independent the sort of reading material given to
variable the understudies.

2. The dependent variable is what is

being measured, which in this
situation is the ultimate term exam
marks.
3. The justification of the
(independent variable) is expected to
impact the final exam marks
(dependent variable) due to its
distinctive nature and substance.

Case Scenario No.02 Color of light is the Growth of plants are 1. The independent variable in this
Independent variable the Dependent situation is the color of light since it
variable is what is being controlled by Sidra.

2. The dependent variable is the

development of the plants since it is
what Sidra is measuring to decide the
affect of the independent variable.

3. Diverse colors of light are

anticipated to impact plant
development in an unexpected way
due to variations in wavelengths,
subsequently legitimizing the choice
of these variables.

Case Scenario No.03 Mathematical Marks on

Practice exercise and mathematics course 1. The independent variable is the
interactive sessions are the Dependent strategy of educating since it is what
are the Independent Variable is being controlled by Amina.
Variables
2. The dependent variable is the
marks on the mathematics course
since it is what Amina is measuring
to decide the affect of the instructing
methods.

3. The desire is that the strategy of

educating will impact the students'
execution in math.

Case Scenario No.04 5 Hours Sleep and 8 Reaction Time is the 1. The independent variable in this
Hours Sleep are the dependent variable situation is the hours of sleep since it
Independent is what is being controlled by Sania.
Variables
2. The dependent variable is the
response time since it is what Sania is
measuring to decide the affect of the
independent variable.

3. It is anticipated that distinctive

sums of rest will influence response
time, thus justifying the choice of
these variables.
