PROCESS ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose
This job description details responsibilities for the Process Engineer reporting to the Manager of Site Operations

Primary purpose of role


Member and contributor to a multi-disciplinary team delivering Engineering & Maintenance legislative compliance and
improvements ensuring the safe, efficient availability and reliability of BP’s Research facility and associated assets at
Sunbury.

Major duties
 Provide day to day technical engineering support ensuring the safe, efficient availability and reliability of BP’s
Research facility and assets. To include breakdowns, process improvements, project scope development and
completion, systems, procedures and processes support, development and maintenance.

 Provide technical and chemical engineering support resolving operational issues within agreed areas. Monitor
the reliability of assigned equipment, troubleshoot problems & proactively seek improvements.

 Take personal responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others, championing px’s ZERO harm
charter and px’s ELITE values in day-to-day work.

 Be a key contributor to the delivery of Management of Change (MoC) processes using approved methods and
process assurance practices, ensuring deviations are properly authorised and actions are completed.

 Complete project design aspects including vessels, tubing, pressure control/relief and small-scale lab
equipment.

 Complete process design calculations for small-scale lab equipment and produce datasheets for equipment
purchase.

 Update and maintain assigned controlled documentation (drawings, datasheets, pressure relief register etc.)

 Support the delivery of assigned research programmes & capital projects. Ensure the controlled development,
application and monitoring of site technical specifications, policies and procedures appropriate to BP Sunbury
Labs.

 Contribute to the programme of works for submission into the Annual Maintenance Plan (site budget) ensuring
correct testing and maintenance is completed and that budgets are managed responsibly.

 Maintain and develop personal competence completing required development ensuring awareness of current
procedures, rules and regulations that apply to responsibilities.

 Portray the position of Process Engineer in an enthusiastic and professional manner, completing required
training & developing personal, technical & business competence & skill

 Support other employees in maintaining high levels of safety, availability and reliability through contributions
to, and leadership in, project enhancement and development and, when required, by demonstrating technical
support

 Act as Proponent Engineer and propose and justify modifications to equipment or to operating procedures to
improve safety/efficiency/reliability of equipment. Ensure all modifications meet statutory and Company
standards and are correctly closed out.

 To contribute to the delivery of the px Team’s objectives, KPI’s and Clients requirements.

 Actively contribute to the effective and consistent management of the work control process, communicating
with client for the timing of plant release for maintenance, factoring in known plant defects and availability.

 To develop and maintain effective working relationships with other px personnel, both on and off site. To
extend this to all site customers, visitors and external relationships including industry and professional forum
representation.
