The Case of Lolita

A. Identify the Dilemma of the following character: (5pts)

1. Lolita- The dilemma in Lolita’s character is that she is hurt and feeling
betray by her beloved man and his family also she is in the situation that
is very crucial part to decide,
2. Manuel- Manuel suffered a stroke, and he would take a long time to
recover. Manuel also struggled with prioritizing who he should help first:
his soon-to-be wife or the baby he is expecting.
3. Another woman- this woman is pregnant and the father of her child is
Manuel

B. Apply the Seven Steps of Moral Reasoning

a. Gather the facts (3 pts)

 They’re in the long-time relationship and get married soon so they

need to earn money for grand wedding.
 Manuel got transfer to other company branch in manila then
suddenly he got stroke attack.
 Lolita got hurry to arrive in the hospital to take care of her beloved
man even it takes Hussle to her work and it takes time to consume.
 A woman arrived at the hospital and told her that she and Manuel
were dating. She also revealed that she is four months pregnant with
Manuel and that if her parents found out, they would kill her.
 (the other woman) pleaded with Lolita to be the one to look after
Manuel because she adores her and wants her soon-to-be-born child
to have a parent.
Manuel’s parents talk to Lolita to forgive Manuel and continue the
wedding, despite of conflict that Manuel have a child in another woman,
 (Lolita side) she already thinking the consequence in her family when
their determine that Manuel has a cheater man,

b. Determine the Ethical Issues (5 pts)

Lolita is torn between giving his beloved man to the other woman because of
the situation and providing a decent family for the child without considering
whether he really loves Manuel and even for the sake of the child, or continuing
to choose Manuel because she still loves Manuel and, if there are conditions,
she will forgive Manuel and continue their dream grand wedding even if there is
an obstacle.
c. Identify the Principle that have a Bearing on the Case (5pts)
The first principle described is that a woman demands that Lolita send her
beloved Manuel because she is expecting a child soon and she wants a father
who will take responsibility for the child. She also demands that Lolita love
her because she adores Manuel, the second is that Lolita adores Manuel and
the two are preparing to marry, but Lolita is deceived by his man. Finally, she
is uncertain what would happen if she marries a man who has a child with
another woman.

d. List the Alternatives (5pts)

Option 1. In my own opinion for Lolita to decide is she forgive Manuel at
let the child have a support to his father then continue the grand
wedding.

Option 2. In option 2 since they are not yet married go Manuel and take
his responsibility and married the woman.

Option 3. Lastly talk to each family side to decide and get the best advice
what to do so there is no conflict between them.
 e. Compare the alternatives with the Principles (4 pts)
If Lolita breaks Manuel, she will be hurt so bad but she is making a strong
decision in her life.
f. Weigh the Consequences (4 pts)
She will forgive Manuel and decide to continue the wedding but the child
have a support to Manuel but the consequence is the conflict between the
family of the other girl and Lolita’s family.

If she broke up with Manuel she will hurt badly and it takes a long long
time to heal and recover to let his beloved man to other girl but that is the
best decision that she will make to prevent conflicts in life.

g. Make a Decision (4pts)

For me it is the best decision to let Manuel go with another woman and take his
responsibility, it will take so much pain but it is the best decision that she will
make to let her man, and take the risk for her love ones. Also, it will solve the
problem but she is the only one that much sacrifice.

Na share ko na po ito in oral pero uulitin ko nalang po maam saying points.

Nung grade 9 ako sa probinsya ang major ko sa TLE naming ay Electrical, Isang
araw nung nag lalaoratory kami yung isang kaklase ko ay aksidenteng
natapunan
nya ng tubig yung live wire at sumaog ito, pero hinde nman po nya ito sinasadya
at sobrang nagalit yung teacher namin a gusting alamin kung sino ang may sala
walang gusto umamain dahil ibabagsak nya ito, Hinde rin naming maamin dahil
matalik rin naming na kaibigan sya, Pero bilang president at ayaw ko naming
madamay lahat ng section naming inamin pinuntahan ko ang aming guro at
kinausap sya nung siya ay nahimasmasan na sag alit at laking pasalamat ko ng
nadaan naman sa maayus na usapan ang lahat pinabayad nalang saamin yung
nasirang wire ang tama nga ang sabi ng matatanda na walang problemang hinde
nadadaan sa maayus na usapan, kahit na may kapalit man ito sa kabilang
banda,
