Picture Frame
This project will give you the opportunity to practice your woodworking skills. In order for us to economise on materials
and ease of completition we will all do the same project. Your individuality will come in the design and accuracy of the
work.

Construction:

Tools Required: Band Saw, Scroll Saw, Drill Press, Spindle Sander, Screwdrivers,
Clamps.

Materials: Each person will receive a 5.5” x 22” x .75” piece of dressed pine or poplar. You will need to do
the conversion of the inches into centimeters if you wish to work in metric. The
equivalence is as follows: 1” equals 2.6 centimeters.

The illustration above gives you a sampling of what the picture frame could look like. The picture frame must be 16”
high. With the remaining 6” plus the cut out of the opening (material where the picture will go), you should have enough
to build the small shelf and the support bracket. The configuration of the opening for the picture is up to you.

Limitations:
 You must use the wood provided (plan ahead – this is the only wood that you will receive.
 Make templates to trace the mirror to prepare for cutting.
 You must use fasteners provided.
 All portfolio requiremetns must be submitted.

Portfolio Requirements:
 Challenge Report
 Final Template papers for each part of the Picture Frame.
 Post Challenge evaluation.
 Finished Picture Frame
