ALLEN KEY HANDLE (METRIC)

1. Print parts
The key handle is designed in such a way so that each key has a position to be inserted in,
with two small clips that will hold it in place:

Figure 1: Detail of fitting clips

As there may be small differences between the Allen key sizes, and not all handles are
printed the same due to differences between printers, you will find 4 models with different
levels of adjustment:

LOOSE MEDIUM

TIGHT SUPER TIGHT

Figure 2: From top left to bottom right, “LOOSE”, “MEDIUM”, “TIGHT”, “SUPER TIGHT”.

My recommendation would be to start with the ¨TIGHT” version and try it out. If the
adjustment is tight enough just use that one, if it´s too loose then print the “SUPER TIGHT”
version, or if too tight then print the “MEDIUM” one.

LOOSE MEDIUM TIGHT SUPER TIGHT

2. Print settings
• Printing recommended orientation: The Allen key handle is designed to be printed
horizontally flat on its side with the holes, and with no supports:

Figure 3 Detail of best printing orientation

Do not print the handle with the holes facing upwards, as this will produce some
unnecessary overhangs:

• Printing recommended layer height: Due to the fillets at the top and bottom of the
handle, the result is better with a higher layer height. I recommend at least 0.25mm
layer height:

Figure 5 Detail of the handle printed at 0.25 mm layer height with no supports

Otherwise, some issues at the bottom fillet of the handle will occur even when
printed with supports:

• Printing recommended parameters: Some other important recommendations are:

✓ Layer height: …………….. 0.25 mm
✓ Supports: ………………….. None
✓ Infill: …………………………. 20%
✓ Perimeters: ………..….…. 10
With these settings, your print slicing will look like this:

3. Hole distribution
Once you have printed the handle, you will find 9 holes one for each Allen key:

4. Instructions to use
Using the Allen Key handle is self-explanatory, you just need to follow these simple steps:

1) Locate the hole corresponding to the

Allen key you want to use.

2) Insert the Allen key through the

corresponding hole at the handle,
always by the short edge of the key.

3) Press the key towards the handle util it

gets held in place by the two small
clips. You should hear a clicking noise
when this happens.

4) At this point, the key and the handle

are ready to use.
