CHESS FOR INTEGRITY

UNDER 20 OPEN AND GIRLS

CHIVHU COUNCIL HALL


1. INVITATION

Queens of Chivhu is honored to invite all chess players who are 20 years and below, to participate in the
FIDE rated Chess for Integrity tournament to be held from Friday 31 May (arrival) to 2 June 2024 at
Chivhu Council Hall in Chivhu, Zimbabwe. The event is open to all players who are 20 years and below
both males and females and will also be rated using the ZIM Chess Rating.

2. TOURNAMENT SECTIONS

There shall be two sections, Open Section and Girls Section for players who are 20 years and below.
Both sections shall be rated using FIDE Rating and ZIM Chess Rating.

3. TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS
3.1. The Tournament will be played in accordance with the latest FIDE Laws of Chess

3.2. The Tournament will be played over 7 Rounds as a Swiss System Tournament

3.3. The time Control will be 60/60 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move one.

3.4. The games will be played using Digital Clocks; and pairings will be done using Swiss Manager
and published on www.chess-results.com

3.5. Spectators are not allowed in the playing area, but parents and supporters are welcome to use
the outside area to socialize and engage with the players once their games are completed.

3.6. Default time is 15 minutes after the start of the round.

3.7. Tiebreaks to be used to separate score groups

i) Direct Encounter

Ii) Bucholtz Cut 1

iii) Most number of wins

3.8. Prize funds to be shared equally by players on the same number of points

3.9. Recording of moves is compulsory up to the last second.

3.10. Recording sheets remain the property of the Organizers.


3.11. Fair play rules are strictly observed and any transgressions will be sanctioned.

3.12. Cellphones may be left at Security Desk at Owner’s risk

3.13. There will be no game bulletins and analysis permitted in the playing area.

3.14. Alcohol, smoking and eating are prohibited in the playing Hall.

3.15. Dress code is strictly smart casual. Organizers reserve the right of admission.

6. ARBITRATION TEAM

The Arbitration team will be appointed by the Organizing Committee

7. APPEALS COMMITTEE
7.1. The Appeals Committee will be appointed by the organizing Committee during the Technical
meeting
7.2. The Members of the Appeals Committee will be announced before Round 1 starts.

7.3. Any protest regarding a decision taken by the Chief Arbiter or any of his Assistants must be
submitted in writing to the Chairman of the Appeals Committee within 30 minutes after the
completion of the respective game, with a US $50 deposit. The deposit is refundable, if the
appeal is successful.

8. VENUE, BOARDING AND LODGING


8.1. The playing venue is Chivhu Council Hall located in Chivhu Town, Zimbabwe

8.2. Bookings for the event will be done through the Organizing Committee.

8.3. Participants and Accompanying Persons who wish to stay or feed at the venue will lodge at:
OPTION 1: Chivhu Hotel
US$ 40 per room per day shared (2 people in a room) or US$ 50.00 per person per day in a single
occupancy room). These rates include bed and a mini breakfast, Alterative accommodation may be
arranged.

OPTION 2: Chivhu Primary


US$ 5 per day per person in a classroom fitted with mattresses

FEEDING
Breakfast standard $1.50
Lunch (sadza/rice with chicken & salads + fruit & drink) $2
Supper (sadza and beef with a drink) $1.50

8.4. All payments related to boarding and lodging and feeding must be paid on or before 27 May
2024.

8.6. Players, Officials and Accompanying Persons who arrive before 30 May 2024 or depart after 2
June 2024, will be expected to arrange their own accommodation, or pay for the additional
days.
9. REGISTRATION
9.1. All participants and accompanying persons are required to register early and benefit from
discounts.
9.2. Registration may close earlier due to limited spaces.
