WHAT IS PRIVACY RIGHT?
• The privacy right of victims is closely linked to their right to
be treated with dignity and respect, as well as their right to be
informed about their rights.

• This means that victims have the right to control information

about their case, including who has access to it, and to ensure
that their personal information is protected from unauthorized
access or disclosure.
WHAT IS CULTURAL RIGHT?
• The cultural rights movement has provoked attention to protect
the rights of groups of people, or their culture, in similar
fashion to the manner in which the human rights movement
has brought attention to the needs of individuals throughout the
world.

• The aim at assuring the enjoyment of culture and its

components in conditions of equality, human dignity and non-
discrimination.
WHAT IS LINGUISTIC RIGHT?
• Linguistic rights are the human and civil rights concerning the
individual and collective right to choose the language or
languages for communication in a private or public atmosphere.

• Linguistic rights include, among others, the right to one’s own

language in legal, administrative and judicial acts, language
education, and media in a language understood and freely
chosen by those concerned
Challenge / Controversy
Privacy Right

• People frequently struggle to keep control over their personal

information due to government monitoring programs and
invasive data harvesting by internet companies.

• Concerns concerning the degradation of privacy are also raised

by new technologies such as biometric data collection and
facial recognition.
Challenge / Controversy
Cultural Right

• Cultural difficulties are heterogeneous and context-specific,

with wide variations. For example, the loss of traditional
cultural practices and languages might result from globalization.

• Another major issue is cultural appropriation which is the

adoption or exploitation of aspects of one culture by another
without due recognition or comprehension.
Challenge / Controversy
Linguistic Right

• Minority languages frequently face discrimination and lack of

support from dominant languages in the media, government,
and educational system.

• The development of international communication technologies

may also further marginalize languages that are not as widely
spoken.
Case Study / Example
Privacy Right

• Privacy rights in Malaysia could revolve around the

implementation and enforcement of the Personal Data
Protection Act 2010 (PDPA).

• Examining the role of government agencies, businesses, and

civil society in upholding privacy rights within the Malysia
context would provide valuable insights.
Case Study / Example
Cultural Right

• Cultural rights in Malaysia could explore the preservation and r

ecognition of indigenous cultures, languages, and traditions.

• Could analyze government policies and initiatives aimed at

promoting and safeguarding the diverse cultural heritage of
Malaysia including the establishment of cultural institutions,
heritage sites, and festivals celebrating the country’s
multicultural identity.
Case Study / Example
Linguistic Right

• Linguistic rights in Malaysia could focus on the preservation

and promotion of minority languages such as the languages
spoken by indigenous peoples or immigrant communities.

• Examining the impact of globalization and urbanization on the

linguistic diversity of Malaysia, and the implications for
language rights, would provide valuable insights into the
broader sociocultural context.
Conclusion
• The privacy right, cultural right, and linguistic right are all
interconnected with other fundamental human rights, such as the
right to life and the right to education.

• These connections highlight the interdependence of human rights

and the importance of recognizing and protecting them collectively.

• The protection of these rights is crucial for ensuring a dignified and

fulfilling life for all individuals, regardless of their background or
circumstances.
