Coral SXL Dry Ramming Mix

Coral SXL is a dry, spinel forming ramming mix based on specially selected high purity raw
materials.
This mix has been designed for use where long holding periods, at elevated temperatures, can
result in deep baking of the lining. The thermally reactive constituents have been balanced to
ensure adequate frit with powder backing, whilst maintaining the required lining chemistry.
Additionally pre-reacted materials have been included to promote spinel formation and increase
erosion resistance.

Fritting Schedule
In the case of steels the furnace should be filled with dense charge material (e.g. stampings) and
heated to melt out at 200-300°C/hour depending on furnace size, taking care that the bath covers
all the dry rammed lining.
For melting steels, the bath should be heated to 1700-1720°C and held at that temperature for 60-
90 minutes. When melting cupro-nickels the bath should be heated to 1450°C and held at that
temperature for 4-8 hours.

These procedures are meant as a guide for general practice. Customers should contact Capital
Refractories for the correct sintering schedule for each of their individual furnaces.

Note: It is essential that these materials do not come into contact with moisture of any kind.
