MIDTERM ESSAY - JULY 15TH - 16TH 2021

As we anticipated in our latest schedule, this week we will be holding the first Midterm Exam of
the year (Essay writing). Students will write their midterm essays from home and submit their
essays on campus AND by email to their tutor of reference (see email addresses below).

Task: Students will have to write an essay on ONE of two given titles in NO LESS THAN 450
words. The time allowed is TWO HOURS. The titles cannot be changed in any way.

Date and time: We will offer a choice of two possibilities.

Procedure: The exam will be administered on Zoom and students will have to be online and
have their cameras on the whole time. They will also have to sit where we can see them clearly.
The choice of essay titles will be shared at the start of the session. Students will write their essays
on a sheet of paper and submit a photograph of their essay through campus AND to their tutor
of reference by email.

IMPORTANT:

• The photograph must be easy to read; blurred photographs will not be accepted.
Students will have 10 minutes after finishing time to submit their essays.
• Essays sent later than 10 minutes after finishing time WILL NOT be marked.
• The photographs will be labelled “SURNAME 1/2” SURNAME 2/2”
• The photographs will be submitted as zipped files on campus.

Evaluation and assessment: Each essay will be given a mark (from 2 to 10), which will be
complemented with a written comment by the teacher highlighting stronger and weaker points
of the piece.
