Being selfish is seldomly rewarded. This is one of my biggest takeaways from playing

the first game on September 21st. Seeing the world observing specifically for the role of Karma

in it I was pleased to see that selfishness was continually followed by what almost seemed like a

sign from the world to be more selfless. This encompassed everything I would have hoped to see

in through the game. Starting at breakfast after my 8am computer science class, I watched as two

kids in Boulder decided to skip the line. While the crime and punishment may not seem like

much, when the two kids walked up to get their food, the amount of breakfast put on their plate

was significantly smaller than that of the average serving. Seeing the disappointed looks on their

face reminded me of the irony seen through Karma's role in what comes around goes around.

Similarly, at rugby practice that night, I watched as teammates attempted risky crash maneuvers

to the middle of the field in hopes of breaking out. While not clear to many off the pitch,

watching the practice ensue became frustrating as players became more selfish on offense

breaking away from the discussed strategy resulting in blown plays that in a real game would

actually put our teammates in danger. This practice felt like it was for a reason. Acknowledging

that the selfish decisions on the field can result in more negativity and positivity, we slowly

transitioned to a more open style of play that made me feel as if we realized through our mistakes

that teamwork is a gift to success that being individual can not achieve. On a more positive note,

I saw constantly through the day people being encouraging and kind to their peers. Whether it

was simply holding a door into campion or offering a friend water, these acts always seemed to
bring people together and diverge any mood set to a positive one immediately. This constant

pattern made me realize the importance of positivity and seeing that good days are made of good

deeds. Those who involved themselves positively in the world as I saw it, enjoyed the benefits of

the day. While those who looked to take advantage of it, learned the harsh truth that can be

explained in the concept of Karma, so happily seen throughout my day.
