measurable terms students will be able to…(SWBAT) ** Note- the objectives should encompass
thinking skills from Bloom’s Taxonomy. Students will be able to demonstrate their skill set and
knowledge while performing their own creative cheer.

II. Instructional Materials/Resources:

- Smartboard
- Green and Gold Poms
- Google Slides

III. Essential Questions/Subject Matter/ Content

- How many times do you repeat a cheer?
- What are some examples of motions that you can do during a cheer?
- What are some stretches you should do before you begin cheering?

IV. Procedures/Strategies/Methodology

A. Introduction - As my introduction, I am going to use the smartboard and show a video of

the Game Day routine I performed last year. I will explain that there is a lot that goes into
cheering, especially competitively.

B. Development - During my lesson, I will go over some examples you are able to use
during a cheer, including high V, low V, right punch, left punch, touchdown, high clap,
low clap, and T. I will also go over how long a cheer has to be and how many times you
repeat it. Another thing that I will do is talk about the fact that you are able to move
around and move your feet. Doing good cheers is not just standing in one place, you have
to move around and engage your crowd.

C. Closure - I will demonstrate a cheer called Let’s Go North and split the students into 3
teams. This cheer is not specific to any type of sport.
D. Accommodations / Differentiation - An accommodation that I will keep in mind is if one
student cannot do a cheer because of an injury, etc. then they can do it sitting down.

E. Assessment/Evaluation Plan - As the assessment, the 3 groups will have approximately

15 minutes to create their own cheer about polytech and then present their cheer to the
class. They can create their cheer that is specific to either one sport or not specific to any.

Transitions:
- I will have everybody stand up and we will do the peanut butter jelly spread-out chant while
making sure everyone is far enough away from each other. I will use this when I have all of the
students standing up before we start going over the motions.

V. Reflective Response

A. Report Students’ Performance in Terms of States Objectives
