CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND
Neema Hospital exists in Kahawa Sukari along Thika Super Highway (Exit 10). It is a level 4
mission hospital designed to provide top quality and affordable healthcare to all.
The Neema Hospital was started in February 2011 to increase access to quality and affordable
healthcare sustainably within a well-equipped and maintained facility.
The facility started as a small clinic with a just a pharmacy and a laboratory and has grown to a
hospital with a capacity of 25 beds in the wards for male, female, pediatric, surgical and
maternity. They most recently have added a well-equipped theatre supported by two post-
operative wards.

1.2 PROBLEM STATEMENT

Since the hospital is small and slowly growing they face the problem of space and sitting areas
and it easily crowds and most patients don’t get to see a doctor the same day. There is no
enough room for doctor’s offices to see patients.

1.3 OBJECTIVES
I want to develop an Online HealthCare system for Neema Hospital to enable them:
1. To develop a patient administration system
2. To analyze the number of patients that get treatment at Neema Hospital daily
3. To investigate if there are enough doctors Neema Hospital
4. To develop an online system/module database for Neema Hospital

1.4 SCOPE AND LIMITATION

The system will cover patient administration, keeping track of patient records and treatment
history and payments.

1.5 JUSTIFICATION
The system is developed to help Neema Hospital ensure efficient management of patients and
excellent care of their needs. It helps them keep track of hospital patient records and their
treatment history. It will enable seamless exchange of information between healthcare providers
and reduces errors. The financial domain will help reduce billing errors and enhance financial
transparency
The society gets easy and fast access to medical healthcare attention
