Phase 1 starting june 2024

In phase 1, candidates should focus entirely on the syllabus and integrated preparation.
Make smaller targets for 3 months duration each starting with getting familiar with the
exam pattern. The objective is to cover major subjects like Indian Economy, Polity,
Social Justice, History, etc.

Months 1 to 3: (3 month) 5 to 6 hr study

● Go through the UPSC syllabus and make a booklist for Prelims and
Mains.
● Cover NCERTs to have a good foundation of Mains and Prelims subjects.
● Go through PYQs and start newspaper reading on a daily basis.

Months 4 to 6: ( 3 month) 5 to 6 hr study

● After completing the NCERTs move to the standard reference material for
holistic preparation.
● Start note-making for revision from lectures and study material. Make
revision notes keeping in mind the unique requirements of the UPSC
Prelims and Mains exams.
● Solve UPSC PYQs to evaluate preparation so far and understand the
structure of questions
● Take the subject-wise test first to test the fundamentals and
restructure your strategy if required
● Start answer writing to learn articulation skills in the next 6 months.
● Writing one essay on weekends and 20 question set.

Phase 2 jan 2025

Months jan to april ( 4 month) 6 to 8 hr daily

● optional subject subject preparation complete 50% syllabus.


● Start optional paper preparation. Since this paper holds significant
value in Mains, candidates must get guidance from experts.
● Target to complete paper 1
● Start answer writing to learn articulation skills in the next 6 months.
● Start revision of notes that you are making and refer to topper notes for
improvising them.

Phase 3 Till May 2025


The second phase should be about intensifying the preparation with the ultimate
objective of clearing it in one go. Now the objective is to get ready for each stage and
maintain a consistent score above 120 in the test series for the UPSC Prelims GS 1
paper and above 100 for the CSAT paper.

Months may to sept (5 month) 8 to 10 hr daily

● Ensure to cover 70 to 80% of the integrated UPSC syllabus.


● Cover topics like disaster management, security, and governance in
this phase that are usually exclusive to UPSC Mains.
● Start answer writing to learn articulation skills in the next 6 months.

Months oct to dec 10 to 12 hr daily

● Complete your optional subject and remaining syllabus of UPSC


Mains.
● Have UPSC Mains revision notes ready and do a quick review of all topics.
● Increase the frequency of mock tests for the prelims stage.
