For the bucket tests:

- You will need a Scale to measure the weight of a volume of 10 lt of mud and Cuttings
and a Bucket of 10lt.

- Fill the Bucket up with 10lt of water.

Weight the 10 lt to measure 10 kg as accurately as possible. Add or remove
water to get 10kg exactly. (Yes density of 1 is not true but this is the best we can do.)
Draw a mark inside the bucket just above the 10lt.

- Put the Bucket under the shaker to recover exactly 10 lt of Mud and Cuttings
- Weight the Bucket Minus the Tare (as you want to know the weight of Mud and
Cuttings)

Then we will know:

 Mud weight in SG
 Rock drilled SG
 Weight of 10 lt of Mud and Cuttings

Example:
Mud = 10.5 ppg à 1.26 SG
Cuttings = 2.65 SG
Bucket Tare (empty) 1 KG
Bucket Weight – Tare = 17.5KG = (18.5 -1)

Data Mud Cuttings

Volume= A 10-A
SG = 1.26 2.65
Weight = 1.26 x A 2.65 x(10-A)

Then 1 Equation with 1 unknown Number: A

1.26 A + 2.65(10-A) = 17.5
1.26A +26.5 -2.65A = 17.5
-1.39A = -9
A = -9 /-1.39

 A = 6.475
 10-A = 3.525
 Ratio = 1.84

Which means 1.84 bbl of mud for 1 bbl of Rock Drilled.
