INTRODUCTION
A building that unites and permits two completely distinct functions to be produced in
each area is known as a hybrid structure. Additionally, hybrid architecture makes it
possible to expand and adapt beyond the usual limits. Similar to how scientists combine
two distinct DNAs and allow them to mutate to discover new things, hybrid architecture
pushes boundaries to find new ways to design structures that take human comfort and
every available area into account. Hybrid architecture expands the possibilities of the
constructed environment by skillfully combining competing components via the fusion of
several styles, technologies, and materials. As a result of this discovery, this solved the
problem of the different challenges of the modern world. This hybrid architecture is
frequently found in residential buildings, such as split-type buildings, where the lot—
which is typically on a slope or in an uneven terrain—is maximized to create an effective
design. It also gives architects creative freedom to experiment with different forms for
the building's exterior and interior. Typically, Split-type architecture is paired with modern
features like glass and windows, as well as modern lighting fixtures. The staircase is a
desirable element that enhances vertical circulation while also harmonizing with the
home's overall architectural style. Being able to create a structure on a slope opens up
more design possibilities since, in most cases, a view on a slope becomes another
factor that should be taken into consideration, and occasionally given priority. Aside
from stores and small businesses, one of the best applications of hybrid architecture
style is with residencies with clinics. Clinic design is an essential part of the larger area
of healthcare architecture; it shapes rooms that are tailored to the specific requirements
of patients and medical workers. Given how busy a clinic is, building a new one usually
still requires careful design and layout to guarantee a smooth and orderly patient flow.
Accessibility and adaptability are two additional typical requirements for clinics. Since a
clinic is a public area, it must be designed to accommodate all users, including those
with disabilities. This is accomplished by providing larger and accessible entrances,
ramps, and rails inside the structure. Its placement in a residential area facilitates
simpler access to healthcare for those who live nearby. When creating a clinic,
architects must develop spaces that not only adhere to tight health and safety
requirements but also create a healing atmosphere that is good for the health of the
patients.
DESIGN CONCEPT
-To create a design that will ensure that the clinic will be able to generate profit in the
long run
To produce a timeless design with the use of proper selection of materials
throughout the entire area.
To create an effective and efficient layout for both, the house and the clinic by
locating the space requirements in a proper orientation.
3.3 Exits shall terminate directly at an open space to the outside of the building.
5 Patient Movement: Spaces shall be wide enough for free movement of patients,
whether they are on beds, stretchers, or wheelchairs. Circulation routes for transferring
patients from one area to another shall be available and free at all times.
Lighting: All areas in a hospital and other health facilities shall be provided with sufficient
illumination to promote comfort, healing, and recovery of patients and to enable
personnel in the performance of work.
2 Wards
• General 100 13
• Beds 150 --
3 Operation Theatre
• General 300 10
• Operation Table 2000-10000 --
4 Laboratories 300 19
8 Dispensaries 300
20 Function: The different areas of a hospital shall be functionally related with each
other.
CASE STUDY
This case study examines through the split-level residence layout and identify any
possible issues that might arise during the process. Considering responsibility for the
client's demands as well as the space's limits. This case study will give significant
concepts and insight into project design.
Split-Level Houses
Ghat House / Max Núñez (2015) Zapallar, Chile
The split-level residential located in Chile is strategically designed in a 25° slope. The
layout, design, and the ease of use in every area of the house is planned in line with the
conditions of the topography. Having that said, the use of the slope as a way to
introduce the split-level design is a creative way of maximizing the spaces and create a
sense of unity within the interior of the residential area. The materials used in the project
suits great making the structure since glass allows natural light to enter the interiors
reducing the use of artificial light. Wood and cement also helped with creating a clean
look of the interior’s aesthetic and with thermal insulation.

ADAPTABLE IDEAS
Clinics
The
Apply Tree Pediatrician’s Office located in
Greece has a unique interior and introduced a
great way of utilizing how to appropriately use
bright colors. The use of bright and playful
colors exhibits a way of how colors can change
the mood of a space. In this scenario, having
various colors in a type of place like a clinic
helps with setting the mood of what the clients
may feel, specifically the children. Other elements are also used in this design such as
introducing the use of curved doors and windows; Having it said, this idea breaks the
barriers in having a typical spatial configuration of having a square plan. Combining all
the elements used in this design creates a sense of welcoming to the clients that are
catered in the office.
ADAPTABLE IDEAS
The use of curves in areas helps changing an intimidating design by replacing straight
angles and dull materials with tactile, warm, and inviting design. The use of curves also
helps with the safety, knowing how children loves to run around places, it lessens the
risk of having an injury from sharp surfaces. The use of chairs in this area could’ve been
better by changing it into couches to provide a much comfortable environment.
ADAPTABLE IDEAS
The use of smooth curves for walls and furniture throughout the project
Use of the plants as an element to enhance the ambiance of the space
Tiam Coffee Shop & Home / Nguyen Khai Architects & Associates (2020) Hue,
Vietnam
A café-residential area located in Vietnam shows a great way of utilizing a small corner
space to stand-out. The use of light color in this project helped in producing a neat look
and aid also gave chance for the potteries, furniture, and the overall of the house be
noticeable. Introducing the different use of geometrical shapes with the louvers
developed the design, not only by reducing the heat, but as well as with how the
structure plays with natural light, inside and outside of the vicinity. Having a split-level
residence in a terrain also enables the concept of designing for a great layout that
emphasizes more on the vista outside the location.
ADAPTABLE IDEAS
Use of louvers for reducing natural light and have a play of shadows and
lighting.
