1. Case: Concrete paving
The current state of the Art Design and Technology Education department car park at the
University of Zimbabwe gives an uneasy experience to motorists because it is not paved. The

aggregates and Ordinary Portland Cement are already in place and stored on-site.
a) Explain the field test which can be conducted to determine the bulking of on-site
aggregates. (6)
b) Analyse the chemical composition of Ordinary Portland Cement to be used for paving.

d) Examine four factors that could affect the workability of concrete on site. (8)
