To Dear Fallbrook Skilled Nursing Facility

Alexis Pineda Resignation Letter

I regret to inform you that I am resigning from my job as a CNA. I am very grateful for
the opportunities this job has brought me and some of the friendly staff I got to meet, but
unfortunately I will not be able to stay any longer as I had initially intended to do. Here are some
reasons why, and hopefully you could make change for future workers, especially ones coming
from the program. A few of the CNAs on the floor are very unfriendly. Being unfriendly can
make an impact on me and other students when first working on the floor as students. It made me
feel unwelcome. That didn’t stop there. We would all hear gossip from other Cnas saying they
don’t want us working there. Not only was there gossip about us students, but there were CNAs
screaming profanity at new workers over ridiculous things such as not closing a door. This alone
was a good reason to not want to work there, being that I am all about working with positive
people in a healthy work environment, and this was far from that. The behavior and attitudes of
other workers were only a part of the reason I made this final decision, because what really led
me to this position is management.
As new students, I was a bit overwhelmed with the amount of patients given on the first
couple of days. I will say after a few days, it did get better, but the days were still very stressful.
Management doesn’t pay attention to workers that call out right away, leading to changed
assignments everyday. It’s very frustrating taking care of more than 8-9 people, and even more
when management doesn’t do good enough regulating this. People shouldn’t be so comfortable
at any workplace calling out anytime they feel just because they know they won’t have any
discipline. I have never worked anywhere where calling out was a regular thing, leaving 2
students running the whole facility (which did happen). I would prefer to not risk that happening
to me, and especially letting workers who call out like that take advantage of their coworkers and
job.
Hopefully this facility can do more to prevent things like this from happening and
establish better regulations for calling out. These things are very important for staff and better
care towards residents. Thank you for understanding and hope you continue with more success in
your next hires.
