My inquiry question is:

How can design and implementation of custom emojis impact digital communication
engagement within community?

Rationale/context: Detail your reasons for choosing this inquiry question. Explain WHY you are
choosing to investigate this topic as a major area of focus. How does this area of inquiry
connect to your passion(s), purpose? Why is it of personal interest to you?

I've always been drawn to projects that involve creating something unique, something with its
own special identity. That's why I'm particularly excited about the idea of crafting my own
emoji and sharing it with the world. I see this as an opportunity to channel my passion for
drawing and innovative ideas into a tangible product that people can use with excitement. For
my capstone project, I believe focusing on emoji creation aligns perfectly with my strengths
and interests. It offers me the chance to continue a project from start to finish, with the end
result being a product that reflects my creativity and vision. With confidence in my drawing
skills and a wealth of ideas to draw from, I am eager to embark on this journey of emoji
creation. I envision crafting something truly unique, something that stands out and resonates
with users on a personal level. By undertaking this project, I aim to not only showcase my
abilities but also to contribute something meaningful to the digital landscape. I'm excited to
see where this endeavor takes me and the impact my emoji creation will have on those who
use it.

Background: What background knowledge/connections/prior learning do you have in this

area of inquiry?

In terms of my background, I've been passionate about drawing since I was a kid. It's always
fascinated me how my thoughts and ideas can come to life on paper. Over the years, I've
picked up various drawing skills, both from art teachers and online tutorials, all driven by my
love for creating. As for emoji creation, I've already dived into the process. I've researched

 how it all works, from the technical aspects to the creative process. This groundwork has
given me a good understanding of what it takes to make emojis that people will love to use.

So, with my drawing skills and some know-how about emoji creation, I'm ready to take on this
project for my capstone. It's a chance for me to combine my passions and create something
that brings a smile to people's faces.

Career connections: What is your intended career area at this point in time? What
connections does this inquiry question have to your life, academic and/ or career goals?

Although I'm considering a career in either economics or business, this emoji creation project
is surprisingly relevant to both fields. It involves understanding consumer behavior, effective
communication, and branding – all crucial aspects of marketing and product development. By
creating and marketing emojis, I'll be honing skills that are valuable in both economics and
business, making this project a practical and insightful endeavor for my academic and career
goals.

I'll use a PowerPoint presentation to showcase the emojis I've created and explain their
meanings. Each slide will feature a different emoji along with details on its design and
intended emotion. I'll also briefly discuss the creative process, usage possibilities, and
potential impact. This format will provide a concise yet comprehensive overview of my
project.I will also introduce my instagram that I made to upload my projects

For my capstone project, I'll craft a series of emojis featuring my dog, using digital art tools
like Photoshop to infuse everyday expressions and emotions into the designs. These emojis
will serve as a heartfelt tribute to my furry companion while offering users a charming and
relatable addition to their digital conversations. Once completed, I'll submit the designs to
emoji platforms with the hope of sharing this creativity with a broader audience, enriching the
digital communication landscape with a touch of canine companionship and charm.

skills you will need to be able to complete this project. What is your plan to be able to
access/learn all of the resources necessary to achieve completion of this project? Detail
your plans.

To complete this project, I'll utilize procreateon my iPad for emoji creation. I'll enhance my
digital artistry skills through online tutorials and practice exercises, seeking feedback from
peers and mentors for refinement. With these resources and dedication, I aim to produce
high-quality emojis for my capstone project.

you need to help you complete your capstone project? How will your mentor(s) help you?
What is your plan to access the mentorship/community connections necessary for this
project?

To complete my capstone project, I'll seek mentorship from established emoji creators,
particularly those popular on platforms like YouTube. I plan to reach out to them for guidance,
feedback, and suggestions to improve my emoji designs.

Project limitations: What are some project limitations and potential obstacles that you foresee
that might affect progress with your Capstone Project?

1. Time Constraints: Balancing academic coursework and other commitments alongside the
capstone project may pose challenges in managing time effectively and progressing
efficiently.

2. Technical Challenges: Utilizing Adobe Photoshop on my iPad for emoji creation could
encounter technical issues such as software compatibility or hardware limitations, potentially
impacting progress.

3. Feedback Availability: Relying solely on external mentors or online communities for

 feedback may result in delays or limited availability of constructive criticism, affecting the
iterative process of improving emoji designs.
