The line graph illustrates the percentage of free time activities of seniors living in

the United States from 1980 to 2010.

Generally, There is an upward trend in the percentage of the elderly in the United
States over a period of 40 years.

In 1980, the elderly tended to choose to watch TV about 60%. Besides, we see that
watching TV tends to grow by about 5% after 10 years. According to the line
graph, we can see that watching TV is the highest free time activity for elderly
people living in the US. From 1980 to 1990, it can be seen that reading and hiking
activities tend to increase rapidly by 40 % and intersect in 1990. And after 10
years, the trend of theater has a sharp drop by about 20%. Surfing the Internet has a
slight increase with 10 % becoming the lowest activity compared to the other 4
activities during this period.

In the last years, reading has a fluctuation in a line graph. First, it has a steep
decline by 20% between 1990 to 2010. Then, reading suddenly rise with 60 % after
10 years. Surfing the Internet has a dramatic growth by 40% in this period.
Besides, watching TV has slowly risen by 5% after 20 years. And according to the
line graph, we can see that hiking has increased steadily over the years and has
become the first choice for elderly people living in the US. While the theater has
tended to increase slightly again, it is still the chosen activity at least among the 4
activities.
