HUMAN REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

 WHAT IS HUMAN REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM? – reproductive system is designed to ensure the continuity of the
human race by producing children of their own kind.

 REPRODUCTION – is the process in which organisms produce new organisms to avoid species extinction.

MALES and FEMALES have unique reproduction system to perform reproduction.

 MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM – is composed of different organs working together to perform reproduction.

PARTS OF MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

 TESTIS(TESTES) – is tasked to make sperm cell that is used to reproduce new organism.
 EPIDIDYMIS- the site for maturation of the sperm cell to develop swimming ability.
 VAS DEFERENS – a long tube that connects the testis and the prostate gland.
 SEMINAL VESICLE- the organ responsible for the secretion of fluids.
 PROSTATE GLAND – the reason of the smell of the semen which is due to alkaline fluid.
 URETHRA- the part of the system that conducts semen.
 PENIS- has erectile tissues that are used during mating.

 FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM – is primarily responsible for the production, maintenance, implantation and
elimination of egg cells.

PARTS OF FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

 OVARY – is where the egg cells (oocytes) get matured and is released.
 FIMBRIA – sweeps the matured eggs to the fallopian tube.
 UTERUS- eggs may be either fertilized in the presence of sperm cell or eliminated by means of menstruation.
 ENDOMETRIUM – a lining in the uterus thickens to od the process.
 VAGINA – the passage going to the uterus.

BOTH male and female have urinary bladder and ureter.

PUBERTY

- It is the time when our bodies change from a child’s body to an adult body.
- Changes happens anywhere between 8 and 17 years old but most people begin between the ages of 10 and 14.

ANIMALS AND PLANTS REPRODUCTION

2 BASIC TYPES OF REPRODUCTION

 ASEXUAL REPRODUCTION – animals only have one parent involved in the reproduction.
 SEXUAL REPRODUCTION – the union of sex cells from male and female organisms is involved.

ANIMALS THAN CAN REPRODUCE ASEXUALLY ANIMALS THAT CAN REPRODUCE SEXUALLY
HYDRAS FROGS
STARFISH SHARK
SPONGE CHICKEN
CRAY FISH CATS
BUTTERFLY HORSE

FERTILIZATION AND ZYGOTE DEVELOPMENT

- FERTILIZATION- the process when the egg cell unites with the sperm cell.
- ZYGOTE- it is the new cell that is formed during fertilization.

2 BASIC TYPE OF FERTILIZATION

1. EXTERNAL FERTILIZATION – happens when the eggs are fertilized outside the body of the female.
2. INTERNAL FERTILIZATION – fertilization occurs within the body of the female.

REPRODUCTION IN FLOWERING PLANTS

 FLOWER- the flower is the part of a plant that makes seeds.

PARTS OF A FLOWER

 COROLLA-comprises the petals of flower.

 CALYX- comprises the sepals of the flowers.
 SEPALS- protects the flower when it is still a bud and contribute to the process of photosynthesis.
 RECEPTACLE-supports the entire flower.
 PEDUNCLE-connects the flower to the stem
 STAMEN-the reproductive organ of the flower.

POLLINATION

 There are many agents of pollination or how the pollen of the flower gets transferred to another flower. Some
animals are the pollinators which means they transfer the pollen of the flower those are BEES, BUTTERFILES,
DRAGONFLIES and other INSECTS.
