History
The history of the Statue of Liberty begins in France, where it was
designed by sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and constructed by
Gustave Eiffel, who also designed the Eiffel Tower.
It was a gift from the French people to the American people to
commemorate the friendship between the two nations and to
celebrate the centennial of the United States Declaration of
Independence.
The statue, whose full name is "Liberty Enlightening the World," was
completed in France in 1884 and then disassembled and shipped to
New York.
Over the years, the Statue of Liberty has witnessed various historical
events and has remained a beacon of hope for immigrants arriving in
the United States in search of a better life.
In 1924, it was officially designated as a National Monument, and
since then, it has been a highly popular tourist destination, attracting
millions of visitors from around the world each year.
Tahank you !
