same country?) comparing 1968 and 2018. Overall, at first glance, it can be clearly seen that the vast majority of income was spent on food in 1968, while in 2018, the priority was on leisure and housing. It can also be noticed that fuel and power took the least amount of spending money on, in both periods.
Looking at the chart in detail, it has been depicted that 35% of
the budget in 1968 was dedicated to food, however, it fell by half in 2018, which accounted for nearly 15% of their weekly income. On the other hand, leisure and housing have doubled per cent of income in 2018 compared to 196, from 10% to 20%, approximately.
Apart from that, it is worth mentioning that overall family’s
spending saw a decrease in fuel and power as it did not surpass 10% of their total weekly income, moreover household goods showed the same amount of money allocation expenditure in any of the years, which represented roughly 10% for the week in 1968 and 2018.
In general, it can be observed that leisure and housing were
the main priority for families in 2018, in contrast to 1968 when food took most of the distribution.
