Bowling is a game that is played indoors in a 10

bowling alley. Bowlers use a heavy hard ball in an attempt 21
to knock down a set of 10 pins. Each turn, or frame, the 34
bowler gets two chances to roll their ball down the alley 45
to try to knock down all the pins. If you knock down all 58
the pins on the first try, it is called a strike, if you knock 72
down all the pins on your second try, it is called a spare, 85
and if your ball rolls off of the lane and into the gutter, it 99
is called a gutter ball. You want to avoid gutter balls 110
because you earn points by knocking down the pins. The 120
maximum amount of points you can get in a bowling 130
game is 300. There are 10 frames played in every 140
bowling game. 142
Bowling balls are made to fit three fingers on 151
your dominant hand. To bowl, you use your ring finger, 161
middle finger, and thumb. The holes for your fingers 170
come in different sizes based on the size of your hands. 181
Bowling balls also come in different weights. Adult men 190
usually use bowling balls weighing 14 to 16 pounds and 200
adult women usually use balls weighing between 10 and 209
14 pounds. Junior bowlers typically use bowling balls that 218
weigh about 1 pound per year they are old. For example, 229
an eight-year-old might bowl with an 8 pound bowling ball. 241
