System Outline
4.1 Principal Function
z Perfect Safety Precautions
z Compressors are programmed to adjust energy automatically according to work
condition to save energy.
z Realize delayed start of compressors to avoid the frequent start of them.
Principle of Contactor:
Electromagnetic force generated by coils when the current is switched on makes the soft
iron connecting the poles of a magnet attract and drives the movable contact to make the
movable and motionless contacts close in order to put through the main circuit. The movable
and motionless contacts will be apart and the main circuit will be open when the soft iron
releases because of disappearance of electromagnetic suction or low electromagnetic suction.
All the contactors used are world-famous with the characteristics of longevity, small size, no
vibration and noise and a wide range of application. Choose AC-3 load type contactors for this
unit.
z Thermo- Relay
The thermo-relay is mainly used to protect the compressors overloading and for open phase
protection. Its heat element is made of two pressed different metal with different coefficients of
expansion. The relay shall release as a result of distortion of the two metal sheets heated up
beyond a certain temperature when the current gets above the allowable load current. The relay
we used is well-known and much more advanced with the characteristics of adjusting fixed value,
manual and automatic restoration and indicating compensation and buckle.

5 MAINTENANCE
Regular inspection not only protects the air conditioning system better than the service work
after the air conditioning system goes wrong, but also helps to exhibit the top efficiency the air
conditioning system can display.
z Daily Inspection
Check and record the suction/discharge pressure, voltage/current, cooling air inlet and outlet
temperature, outside and indoor temperature, sound and vibration etc.
z Monthly Inspection
a) Detect the leakage point with a gas detector;
b) Fasten screws in the electric system tightly, Particularly for the terminals inside of pressure
switch, magnetic switch box, power source and the place where a current is large, remove
dirt and dust on the contact points in the magnetic switch;
Page 10 of 33

¾ When installing, besides special orders, contractor should be installed on the vertical
plane, its angle of inclination should not be more than 5°,or the action will be effected;
¾ When wiring, be care not to loose parts inside contractor, avoiding burning the coil;
meanwhile screw down the bolt, avoiding fetch way for vibration;
¾ Prods of the contractor should be regularly cleaned and keep clean and tidy, but fat
liquoring is forbidden; If there are metal globule on the surface of the contractor prods
as a result of electric arc, they should be cleaned up in time; But the silver and silver
alloy contact surface oxidation film, for its very small contact resistance, filing is not
necessary.
z Maintenance of Pressure/Pressure Difference Relay
¾ Differential pressure installation and operation of relays should prevent external impact,
should be installed in the protection of relative position, make the sling or moving parts
can not touch;
¾ Install or tight transmitting pressure pipe fittings, should be fine to use two wrench,
make bellows connector don't and lateral corrugated pipe, lest the rotation is sprain.
¾ The pressure relay installed in the corrugated pipe pressure, if want to test circuits,
should not be plucked by micro switch button or switch arm, bulldoze contacts on or off,
avoid improper damage forcibly micro switch. The correct method is: upward or
downward clicked, make contacts lever to disconnect or closed.
¾ Corrosive substance should avoid contact pressure differential relay;
¾ Should note pressure differential relay moisture proof/dustproof, lest insulation
performance or contact undesirable. The agency to leverage hinged axis and can be
regular, lest because some oil on the normal work. Rust hinder.
z Solenoid Valve
Solenoid valve should keep coil on top,be fitted vertically in the line,or may be fail for
abnormal of the core iron.The flow direction should be from the top core iron to the
bottom ,according to the direction of arrow on the valve body.
Assembly of the solenoid valve,coil part should be in accordance with the specific
sketch,avoiding increasing the reluctance.For the increase of the reluctance not only
reduce electromagnetic force, but also make the suction force direction deflected,
influenting the action of the valve.
z Wires/Cables
¾ Inspect the functional mode of wires/cables: running current, temperature rising and
whether the insulation layer of wires/cables is aging etc.
¾ The routing of wires/cables are to be designed correctly, as much as possible to avoid
interference and damage from various external factors; or take appropriate protective
measures.

z For direct coupling, Install so that the axes and surface of the blower and the motor are
correctly aligned in a straight line;
z Check the degree of stretching of the belt, When the central portion of the upper run of
the belt is tapped by the hand, it does not spring back excessively, but has a slight
looseness, and the belt moves smoothly when turned by hand;
z Clean foreign matters present in the blower;
z Check if the direction of rotation is normal;
z After starting the blower, once turn off the OFF switch immediately before entering the
full speed rotation to see if there are no troubles in the interior rotation and then start the

4 MAINTENANCE
Page 15 of 33
VIKING AIRTECH IM FOR MAIN AC DECK UNITS
Since most of the factors affecting the life of the blower are corrosion due to aging of he
blower itself and durability of the bearings, pay particular attention to the following items.
z Cleaning
Clean the interior of the blower periodically (more than 2 times per year are preferable), and
also carry out re-painting depending on necessity.
z Lubrication of Bearings
For the bearings of blowers, roll bearings are generally employed with grease lubrication
adopted as standard. Although the grease need not be replenished normally for about half a
year to one year once applied, various conditions such as operating hours, revolutions, kinds
of bearings, etc, must fully be taken into account. If the work condition is too bad, then filling
grease not less than 3 times one year.
The proper filling amount is up to about 1/3~1/2 of the space within the bearing box.
Suggest lubrication brand – Shell;
Note: It is not required to replenish grease for the oilless bearings.
Page 16 of 33
VIKING AIRTECH IM FOR MAIN AC DECK UNITS
A proper level of belt tension is required in order to obtain a satisfactory belt life. If the belt
tension level is too high, then excessive loads will be imposed on the belts and the bearings,
and this will reduce the lives of both of these components. If the belt tension level is too low,
then the belt will slip. Belt slippage generates a large amount of heat, and this heat will drastically
reduce the life of a belt.
Belt-tensioning gauges can be used to determine whether the belts are tensioned
properly. A chart is normally supplied with the gauge which indicates the ranges of forces
required to deflect the belts by a given amount to obtain the proper belt tension level. The
required forces are based upon the center distance of the sheaves and the belt cross-
section. The belts are properly tensioned when the forces required to deflect the belt are
within the specified range as below.
If a belt-tensioning gauge is not available, then the belt should be tightened just enough
so that the belt does not squeal when the ventilator is started. A very short period of noise
during the starting of a ventilator is allowable, but a squeal lasting several seconds or longer
is not acceptable.
After tensioning the belts and before starting the ventilator, check to make sure that the
sheaves are properly aligned. Realign the sheaves if necessary. Note that new belts may
stretch a little during initial use, so the belt tension level should be checked after a few days
of operation.
Note: The belt should be released if the ventilator does not run in a long time. And until
the fan is to be used over again, the belt tension level must be adjust again.
The rotor should be turned 180 degree at regular interval when the ventilator don't use in a
long time to avoid the static state distortion of the shaft.
