1. YOUR PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY

a) Referring to the chart on pages 78-79 of your text, identify your


own educational philosophy using the vocabulary in this chart
for EACH of the categories given:
- Purpose of education
- Preferred curriculum
- Role of the teacher
- Role of the student.

Hint: Your philosophy may differ from category to category. For


example, I may agree with Pragmatism for “Education’s Purpose”,
but lean more toward Perennialism for the “Role of the Teacher”

b) Explain your choices for each category.

Part II – Choose any 3 of the following 5 topics to discuss. Make sure to:
 explain the concept;
 relate it to your own personal beliefs (philosophy); and,
 connect the topic to teaching and learning (in general, or to your
specific school situation, or both).

Topics:
1. Students’ Attitude and Motivation
2. School Culture (to include democratic classrooms and schools)
3. Differentiated Instruction.
4. Social Justice
5. How Koreans Construct Intelligence

Part III. Course Evaluation. Please provide us with information that


will help us teach the course better next time. Be specific. Comment
about the textbook, the daily class format, the quantity and quality of
the assignments, etc.

Part IV. Self-Assessment. Evaluate yourself based on the course
