School? Explain. 2. On the top of page 342 are the 4 key principles that are discussed in this chapter. As you read pages 342-374, be able to” A. Explain what each principle means B. Give 2 examples C. Reflect briefly on your reaction to each principle. 3. What do you think of the idea of “democratic small schools” (374-376)?
Part II. Study Guide for Chapter 7 –
Classroom Management – pages 248-285. Note: DO NOT READ EVERY WORD IN THIS CHAPTER – FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES BELOW
1. Skip pages 253-257 (unless you’re interested in an historical perspective)
2. Scan the other pages from 258 to 272 and be able to explain the following concepts; assertive discipline, zero tolerance, “with it” teachers, child-centered schooling, and “making classrooms communities”. 3. Skip pages 272-280. 4. Read closely pages 280-283 and be able to discuss which of the 10 student resources are in your (real or imagined) schools? Which are missing? Why? Is the concept of “democratic classrooms” realistic? Explain. 5. Finally, read Janene Ashford’s vignette (pages 283-285). Does this change your answer to #4 (above)? Explain.
